» doveflys - Vote

Looks as though 8 & 11 are very popular, but #4 gets my vote.

To find out the winner of this contest, read the first paragraph of this article. I must warn you that you will be surprised. Feel free to express your reactions here.

» Jojo - reaction

Let me get this right...

Bumper Sticker entries deadline was Dec 1

Voting seems to have ended Jan 27, or at least that's when the last vote came in.

Jan 30 you decided on a winner

That makes it 3 days in which time you tallied the votes, e-mailed, waited, contacted head office, and then re-decided. Unless voting ended earlier and those last few votes didn't count.

I don't disagree with the outcome. But maybe the timeframe did not allow enough time for beespit to respond. If you look at beespit's homepage, accessible from her profile here, there is an alternate e-mail address available for use. I wonder if you used both. Afterall, yahoo.com addresses are notoriously underchecked, secondary, and used for things such as signing up for best of web guides such as our own. I hope you don't take this as a criticism (it's not meant that way), perhaps just an explanation as to why beespit has not responded.

» biogardener - timeline for Jojo's question

Jojo, your points are well raised, however, I closed the contest December 2, 2001 and contacted the eligible contestants soon after. They were asked to come and vote for the winner, including themselves, long before this article was published. I again emailed them when I realized that none of them had voted. I even told the top two contenders that they were running neck to neck.

I first discussed the problem with Jason the last week of January, and even after he gave me permission to award the prize to Greg I waited for a response to come in from any one of the listed contestants. They had almost 2 months in which to contact me. I made allowances for the Christmas holidays, but I cannot think of another excuse to drag out the contest.

Anyway, because of my previous experience with contests, I had made reachability a contest prerequisite.
