» biogardener - Some more remedies

I just got some more coldsore remedies emailed to me from Emazing.com, and I imagine they would be good for warts as well:

Try putting full-strength lavender oil or tea tree oil on a Q-tip and swabbing that on the cold sore. Undiluted lemon juice is also a favorite, or try 10 drops of eucalyptus or lemon oil diluted in 1/4-cup of a clear alcohol to dab on. If you don't have any of those oils, have a glass of wine and let the remaining drops in the bottom of the glass become a sticky residue. Then dab this on the cold sore. Sounds silly, I know, but the concentrated tannins left in the glass from the wine do the trick.

» Minnie - Precautions with tea tree oil

In response to message posted by biogardener:

I like and use tea tree oil for a number of different things. Mine even reduces or eliminates scars if one applies it immediately after a cut.

However, it has solvent action and needs to be used with precautions. Like DMSO, anything that touches the skin at the same time will also be absorbed. Some people use a tea tree gel to seal the oil in. The tea tree oil, that I have, tastes awful and has a strong smell.

Traute, thanks for giving us a lot of choices. I freeze my lemon juice in a closed ice-cube tray, so usually have that handy.

» biogardener - money consideration

I have never used tea tree oil, because I don't like the price tag, and from what I have heard and read about it, I have other remedies which are just as effective but cost very little. Vitamin E for example will prevent scarring if it is applied in its concentrated form, straight from a 400 IU capsule. I just tested that out a couple of days ago when I cut my fingertip badly. I made myself a bandage which I knew would stay on with a narrow strip of duct tape. Then I made a little toilet paper pad which I soaked in the vitamin E. I kept that on the fingertip for a couple of days. No pain, no scar. And all that from one vitamin E capsule.

Traute,

Thanks for the tip. I don't like the price tag of tea tree oil, either. I will try the Vitamin E capsule the next time I have a cut. That sounds wonderful! I have used Vitamin E along with tree tree oil because the oil works as a solvent and enables the Vitamin E to penetrate deeper.

» biogardener - Allergic reaction

Missy, it sounds like you had an allergic reaction to something. For me, cold sores are always allergic reaction, and the pain on the side of the face is an allergic reaction which I have seen in other people. I have written a lot about allergies on Conquer Your Allergies, and I am elaborating on what I have summarized there on my Allergy Lifeline site, but it is still under construction. If you have specific questions about how to deal with allergies with natural methods, email me.

» biogardener - ear wax remedy

The ear wax remedy comes from Dale Alexander, the king of cod liver oil. I listened to one of his lectures many years ago. I don't remember anything else he said except the ear wax remedy for cold sores which he only mentioned in passing, and I have met several other people in Winnipeg who were at that lecture, and they, too, only remember this one remedy. It is so simple and yet so effective, that no one who ever tried it will forget it.
