» Red - very interesting... Traute, I found your article very interesting. I don't drink water either. I am a tea lover too. Thanks so much for sharing your snapple recipe. I will have to give it a try. I didn't realize that Snapple was a mixture of black tea and juice. The boys love it.Take care my friend. I hope all is well with you. -- posted by Red » katzplanet - Great article! I also love tea and drink it iced all day long. I hadn't considered the idea of missing out on the opportunity of adding herbs to my tea (instead of just drinking green or black tea).I'm always looking for ways to get my daughter to accept more healthful eating habits--I'm definitely going to try your Trapple recipe! Thank you for sharing these great ideas. -- posted by katzplanet » biogardener - Answering a Question Elsewhere someone asked whether a person can drink too much water, and here is my answer:
If you feel thirsty even though you can feel water slushing around in your stomach, it is high time to take some potassium quickly to restore the body's balance between potassium and sodium. Otherwise you could easily pass out. A banana is good, a potassium chloride pill works faster. It happened to me on a torrid summer's drive through the Canadian prairies. I was drinking profusely without being able to quench my thirst. If I had not had a potassium chloride pill on me, I would have passed out. Water leaches the minerals out of your system which the body needs to function. They need to be replaced with other new minerals. That is why I don't drink water but something which contains a mixture of minerals. Fasting on just water is dangerous for this very reason. I only tried it once, and I did pass out. Fasting on juice or herb teas is no problem, as long as the herb teas don't contain spices. To that let me add that seaweed is also a good source of a mixture of salts. The Chinese like to use seaweed in cooking, and so do I. Celery is also great for the same reason. Seaweed and celery are my sources of salt in cooking. I don't even have a salt shaker in the house. I only use salt for watercolors to create the effect of sparkling snow. -- posted by biogardener
