» biogardener - Slugs and drainage Slugs are a drainage problem. You need to make the soil more absorbent so it will hold the water better. That happens through the addition of roughage like dried leaves and shredded newspaper. Manure won't help, except for the straw which may be in the manure. The added nitrogen of the manure will worsen the slug problem.-- posted by biogardener
