After reading your tips, I'm thinking of getting a truckload of compost.

I have a lot of old coffee grounds so it's a freebee for me. I used to sprinkle the grounds, but didn't know that it would keep slugs away. I was surprised when the USDA research team confirmed that "a caffeine solution is more effective" than grounds. I hope it works, because I lose a lot of my flowers and crops to the slugs.
