» mastiffs2005 - Re: Wow! This is great, Traute In response to message posted by jerrib:I've had two lumps removed that were both benign. When I first found the lumps, of course I was terrified... the first one I lived with for 3 years before going to have it looked at... it was 3 years of torment and mental anguish. When I found the 2nd lump, it was out within 2 weeks. It's much better to know than to torture yourself with fear and do nothing. Thanks for the info, too, Traute. I will start taking a look at my caffeine addiction right away, as I still suffer from fibrocystic breast disease, which is highly irritated by caffeine. Have a wonderful night, -- posted by mastiffs2005 » biogardener - Number of mammograms According to medical evidence, women my age are supposed to be getting annual mammograms, but the Manitoba Health Services Corporation only allows us one every two years, but my family doctor checks me out every year. I have always been incapable of finding lumps myself. The only reason I found the one in the article is because of the constant pain.We now have a wonderful facility in Winnipeg, where women are made to feel comfortable when they get their education, examination, x-ray, and discussion. I was there two years ago and will be going there again in a few days. -- posted by biogardener » kerbear1 - Re: Wow! This is great, Traute Yes, I agree that caffeine can cause cysts. But my cyst I found did not hurt & since I had one removed back in 1978/79, no worry. Thanks goodness for my "early warning sign" as this time the pathologists agreed aother benign cyst but he picked up carcinoma cells in my biopsy tissue.Something the mammo didn't & I was DX w/ insitu carcinoma 10/00.Thru the skills of yet another tech, the radilogists found invasive. I had my mod.rad.mast 12/23/00. NED now & on tamoxifen. I was not only fortunate .....I was blessed! Thanks for your support- Keri kerbear@txucom.net
-- posted by kerbear1 » biogardener - biopsy and mammogram Keri, you were indeed fortunate that your problem was found in time.I forgot to post here that I indeed had my mammogram in December, and this is the first time that I felt no pain. The provincial facility now employs an x-ray technician with the Midas touch. I mentioned to my family physician that this was the first time that I felt no discomfort, and he told me that everyone whom he has sent there in the last little while has said the same thing. The moral of the story: It is possible to give a pain-free mammogram. It is necessary, however, to find a person who cares. My very first mammogram was given by a man, and the pain was unbearable. He had obviously no understanding of what it feels like. Maybe he should have had to undergo the same procedure with a certain sensitive part of his own anatomy to be able to identify with the women he was man-handling. -- posted by biogardener » sbauer220 - another lump 4 years ago I had a fibroadanoma (sp) in my right breast. Nothing came of the whole ordeal and its been there all this time, no big deal. I found yet another mass in the same breast right behind the nipple area but this one is not round and has a weird shape. The Dr. said it had an "edge" to it and scheduled a mamogram and ultrasound for three days from now. I'm only 31 and still having regular cycles and I know the risk is small since no cancer of any type is in any family history. Really concerned and unnerved though. Any thoughts?Shawn -- posted by sbauer220 » biogardener - Same here I was about the same age when I first noticed the lump in my breast.I can only repeat what the doctor told me, and that is that malignant lumps don't hurt whereas benign ones do. If the lump turns out to be benign, I am sure that you can get rid of it by the same method which I used and which I describe in the article. If, however, it is malignant, you will need professional help. It is quite possible to get rid of cancer through natural methods, but I have no personal experience with it and do not want to take the responsibility of advising anyone. Please let me know how you make out. -- posted by biogardener » StrmDncr - Read the Labels I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and am now in the habit of reading labels. It’s amazing what you can find on a label. I also suffer from migraines. Someone once told me it was from drinking too much coffee so I limited my coffee to one cup in the morning. It didn’t help. Then I heard it was coffee and chocolate. Naturally I tried that as well. It did help some what but I still got the headaches. So one day I stopped to read the ingredients in Excedrin for Migraines, since I used it often. The third ingredient was caffeine. Imagine my surprise.About the same time a co-worker was having a problem with a painful lump on her breast (most likely the same as yours). She was a “BIG” coffee drinker and was told to stop ASAP. Within two weeks the pain was gone and the lump vanished a few weeks later. But, she started getting headaches. Between the two of us doing some research we found that some people can’t handle caffeine while others have no problem at all. It turned out we both needed small amounts of caffeine throughout the day to keep the headaches at bay but too much caused our problems to return. I now limit my intake according to what I eat throughout the day. I have to read every label. Coffee, tea, soda, and chocolate are all on my hit list. I still indulge, but in small amounts. Now I have to watch the sugar too… Such is life! -- posted by StrmDncr » biogardener - Quitting Cold Turkey I just finished writing a long reply to your posting, Pat, and decided that it should be published in an article where more people will profit from the information.
