» whimsical - this topic Lara - just wanted to drop in and say how much I am enjoying your topic. I, like you, have made some pretty non-mainstream decisions that have been scorned, ridiculed and scoffed at by all and sundry at times - we co-sleep, don't vaccinate any more, breastfeed, practice attachment/continuum parenting, are slowly getting closer to being vegan (this is a slow process!), homeschool and are working towards self sufficiency. I have loved your articles and just wanted you to know that there are alternative mamas out there reading your stuff and learning. Thanks for a great topic!-- posted by whimsical » Laraliz - Re: this topic In response to message posted by whimsical:Well! YOU are welcome. And now I have an excuse to stay up all night: to read your topic articles and discussions. I often joke with friends of mine that while they are browsing Victoria's Secret Catalogs and the new Spiegel Catalog, I am drooling over solar panels and windmills and earth-friendly appliances in my Jade Mountain catalog (if you haven't been to their site, it's a must-see http://www.jademountain.com ). . . I digress. Thanks for your comments -- and it really helps to hear from other 'crunchy mamas' like myself every now and then to remind me why I write for Suite101 -- to help keep that sense of community alive among us alternative parents! Next month I'm writing an article on how change slowly grows and takes over our lives and eventually it all comes together -- it has been such an amazing journey so far, learning all about natural living and I look forward to learning from you, as well. By the way, I'm looking for a few writers to help me in publishing a community magazine -- to start I am reaching outside of my local community since writers with alternative views are a little scarce here in the Southeast. Anyway, if you are interested in contributing, drop me an email: natural_mama@msn.com -- posted by Laraliz
