My Vaccine ManifestoRead the article this discussion is about

» Kristen Cardozo - Vaccinations I did decide to vaccinate my son, and while I agree that not enough information exists about some vaccinations, I think there are plenty of reasons to vaccinate. I do not disagree with any personal choice made by an individual (such as yourself) based on research, but I wanted to state some reasons why my research led me to an opposite decision. While it is true that serious side effects can occur, the percentages for most vaccines show that these side effects are rare, that it cannot be proven that the vaccine caused the side effects, and that these effects may be the result of an existing condition. In reading about flu vaccinations (which I've never participated in), I read the percentage of people who would have a heart attack the next day regardless of whether or no they had a vaccine. Still, it would be impossible to say that the vaccine didn't cause the heart attack. I also read many testimonies of mothers who chose not to vaccinate their children, and many had children who got various childhood diseases, then got better. They were still glad that they had not vaccinated. I did read one account though, by a woman who didn't vaccinate, but later did because she felt that she was relying on other people to vaccinate to protect her own child. I feel that if I did not vaccinate, I couldn't be certain how much I was relying on others making the decision to vaccinate. I also know that my son has never yet had a reaction to his vaccinations. He did throw up once, but it turned out to be a stomach virus he caught at the doctor's office. While there have been children who reacted poorly to the injections, mine has not, so I can't find a good reason not to have him vaccinated. Finally, I know that I am mostly vaccinating to protect my son and his peers from diseases that made child mortality once a much more likely occasion. I can't say that these results don't come from vaccines, though I've read testimony by doctors who theorize that the change came as a result of developing immune systems and hygienic improvements. Good job on your research and your article. Just wanted to present another side. --Kristen Cardozo -- posted by Kristen Cardozo » Laraliz - Re: Vaccinations In response to message posted by grand_vizier:Kristen, I really appreciate your contributions to the discussions here at Natural Family Living.
