Good day! I am of Maliseet descent. My mother came from Fredericton, New Brunswick and my father came from Houlton, Maine. I am not able to find anything on either parent. My grandfather was naturalized, enlisted in the army, and returned a WWI veteran. On his enlistment papers his race was listed "white". I cannot find anything on my grandparents. They, too, came from Canada. In order for me to register my children as native americans, I have to prove my father's native ancestry. Where do I start? My grandparents were from Kingsclear, NB. Both died in Maine though. I cannot find anything other than their marriage certificate and some military papers. They were buried in Houlton, Maine, but there are no other records of them. Help!
