Lawn Mower Racing
This archived discussion is "read only".
» StCatherine - Have you heard of it? It started in my Louisiana hometown at the Forest Festival two years ago. Now it is all the rage among N. LA young people who like to mess with motors and race, but can't afford the big times of NASCAR.I was at the first race. I need to go to at least one more and do an article on this "Poor Man's NASCAR" at my Louisiana topic. The young adults have a lot of fun and get a lot of community support. -- posted by StCatherine » Tom - Re: Have you heard of it? In response to message posted by StCatherine:I've often thought of racing lawnmowers, sounds like a real hoot! It's probably somewhere along the lines of Go-Kart racing, although maybe a little more dangerous. Karts are built low to the ground and can corner at high speeds with out the top heavy weight disadvantage that a lawnmower would have. If I souped up my lawnmower, it would really fly. Actually, it's pretty fast now with its 18.5 HP V-twin engine. I'll have to check around and see if there are any activities like that going on in my area. Thanks Kathryn! -- posted by Tom » mowdak1 - Re: Have you heard of it? In response to Have you heard of it? posted by StCatherine:
Was wondering if you had ever written that article on Lawn Mower Racing. I've recently been working on a website for G-Team Lawn Mower Racing out of Bismarck, ND - http://www.g-team.us/ - and have become deeply involved with both G-Team and the North Dakota Lawn Mower Racing Association. G-Team mogul, and I guess NDLMRA founder Don Gienger (a.k.a. The G-Man or The Donmownator) is pushing for new members up here in the barren rectangle, and I was wondering how the local associations had faired there in Northern Lousianna? Have you seen a decline in interest there, or has the sport of Lawn Mower Racing continued to grow since your post here May 2003? And, if you're aware of what efforts have been made to promote Lawn Mower Racing, at a level of local or State Lawn Mower Racing Association. Basically we're looking for mower mowers, and I'm looking for success stories in attracting mower lawn mower racers since they seem to be just a little different breed! Thanks Much, -- posted by mowdak1
