Gothic Authors

» johnny70 - Gothic Suspense Authors I absolutely love Barbara Michaels. I have read all of her books and am desperate for other authors in her genre. I have some of her Elizabeth Peters book but I prefer her gothic suspense stories. Can you help? I would love a few names of authors in this genre.ksitter@shaw.ca -- posted by johnny70 » terann - Re: Gothic Suspense Authors In response to message posted by johnny70:What is it that you like best about Barbara Michaels books--the gothic setting or the supernatural touch? As Elizabeth Peters, she did write a mystery that was very much like her Barbara Michaels books--Devil-May-Care. Mary Stewart is a fine author for gothic settings. No supernatural element though. I'll take a look around my book shelves and see what else I can come up with. -- posted by terann » terann - Re: Gothic Suspense Authors In response to message posted by johnny70:You could try the following authors: Mary Stewart, Phyllis Whitney, Victoria Holt, Carolyn Haines (Sarah Booth Delaney series), Dorothy Cannell (Ellie Haskell series), Sharyn McCrumb (Elizabeth MacPherson series & the Ballad series), Charlotte MacLeod (Sarah Kelling series), Mary Roberts Rinehart, Mignon G. Eberhart, Tami Hoag, Velda Johnston, and Caroline Llewellyn. I'd be interested in hearing what you think after you have read some different authors. In my mind, Barbara Michaels is one of a kind! -- posted by terann » johnny70 - Re: Re: Gothic Suspense Authors In response to message posted by terann:Thank you so much for the list of authors! I will certainly let you know what I think after I have had a chance to read some of them. -- posted by johnny70
