She still had blood in her heart but also blood and spit in her body. She also showed no signs of decomposing. -- posted by StoneDragon » Dantessa - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Vampires Or vice versa, if you believe in that sort of thing ;)My guess is there are hundreds more incorrupt bodies out there literally carrying their secret to the grave, than we'll ever know about. And many of them could be saint material. It's just that when someone's led a "sainted" life and has gained public recognition as such, and is beatified right away, they tend to look more actively for that sort of thing--because they need the set number of miracles in order to canonize. I think of Padre Pio as a good example of that. He lived his life and used powers as though he *were* a saint, though he was not canonized until 30 some odd years after his death. Took that long to fill out the paperwork ;) -- posted by Dantessa » Dantessa - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Vampires See, the common elements between our stories make me wonder if it isn't just a popular urban legend that occasionally gets assigned to random small towns around the world. It's a good story anyway, though!I actually went to the town where it supposedly took place, in the middle of the night one night, with some college buddies. We went to find the grave of the vampire, but we didn't get very far. Knee-deep snow and pitch blackness aren't ideal grave hunting conditions! -- posted by Dantessa » ierne - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Vampires In response to message posted by Dantessa:See? I knew there was a generic one somewhere..LOL Maybe I should adopt it..I just wonder how much information one can possibly put on a site before you run out, ya know? I mean, it's a pretty small readership that'd be interested.. Hmmm though...LOL -- posted by ierne » ierne - Re: Re: Re: Vampires In response to message posted by Gig12:You're welcome! Actually, I should have clarified a bit more - What I meant was, the Spring Heeled Jack story about the creature (or whatever..LOL) being a vampire is urban legend. I've heard those a fair bit too. As for what he is exactly.. I shudder to think..LOL A silver bullet would have the same effect a regular bullet would - depending on where it hit - I'd be dead. But - I wear silver jewelry all the time - nothing happens.. -- posted by ierne » ierne - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Vampires In response to message posted by Gig12:We have one like that up here - only she'd torn the inside of the coffin to shreds, and I think they said she'd been chewing on her own hands. That however, was a case of being buried before being dead - my gran told me the story, so I assume it was from when she was younger. Scared me so bad I've vowed to be cremated..LOL -- posted by ierne » Dantessa - Re: Re: Re: Re: Vampires Spring Heeled Jack usually appears during UFO flaps. He even has gone so far as to wear a space suit ;) And it isn't confined to abroad. Check this account out from Louisville KY:"A tall and thin weirdo, agile as a monkey and with a long nose, pointed ears, and long fingers, appeared in this vicinity [Louisville] around July 28, 1880. He wore a sort of uniform, made of shiny fabric, and with a long cape and metallic helmet. On his chest under the cape was a large, bright light. His big thing seemed to be scaring people -- particularly women -- sometimes getting so familiar as to pull their clothing off. His favorite method of escape was by springing smoothly over high objects like haystacks or wagons, then vanishing on the other side. [Weird America, page 92]" Doesn't he also sound rather elfin, in a Tolkienian way? Pointy ears, long nose, agile and tall... It's worth noting that many "aliens" or "spacemen" encountered by humans here on Earth look like what Tolkien and other folklorists/fantasy authors depict as elves. -- posted by Dantessa » AlesterHeart - Felt the urge to comment I was just doing a reserch paper for my E101 class and It was on urban legends I thought this might be boring but i fell on the the idea that a well known urban legend and mith is a vampire we are attacked with the idea of them living amung us all over telveison. So im going to use ur article cause this paper is turning out to be knida fun to reserch I found alot of interesting stories inculding this one.-- posted by AlesterHeart » AlesterHeart - and.. Also wanted to add my view on the vampire the realtion to them and sunlight it seems to me like a suvire alergy which is an actual desise apearing in people very rarley, as for immortality i belive there is a limit to their life span Its just much longer since they feed on the youth of people. With averything comes a price i guess...-- posted by AlesterHeart » malicesdarksoul - fact or fiction allthough i belive vampires exist an other such creatures we cant prove thay exist because thay dont make them selvs known to us any more because the world is over populated an the reason small tows have stories is because of population an the only evadence we have r in books its hard to prove something really happend through a book any evidence we would have hade would have been from a thousend years ago an it would have been coverd up so peopple could sleep at night.
