It's too bad that a long message (maybe it was TOO long) that I attempted to post for last week's oriental feast somehow got lost. Otherwise we might have been in touch and I might have known about this week's topic and tried to get you to include a link for my Orff/arranged environmental song, PLEASE, WOODCUTTER. It's at the site:

http://www.concentric.net/~Gamba

Anyone interested in looking at/hearing it has a choice of formats there from MIDI to MusicTime®. I almost didn't bother with with the song myself this year, but the students really do like working on it. With the MIDI file, it's very doable as an easier (sing-along) version.

Now with what promise to be some other really amazing choices to compliment PLEASE, WOODCUTTER, that you have provided this week, I should have something more substantial to go on. Thanks!

David

That's right, David. I remember the Please, Woodcutter song. It's a great Orff Instrument song too.

For those that aren't familiar with it you can find it at:
David's site and the midi begins playing for you as you access the page.

David also has some great sheet music ready for downloading to go wtih this song.

Thanks for dropping by and I'm sorry that I missed your post on the Eastern Instruments. Maybe you weren't logged in or something. ???

Keep in touch. I enjoy "hearing" from you.

Deborah, I just tried setting up a couple of identical pages that are exclusively dedicated to the song so people don't have to go diving around so much looking for it. Let me know what you think if you get the chance:

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olympus/...

http://www.concentric.net/~Gamba/woodcut...

Also just to be compulsively thorought, I'm going to post the oriental discussion item to the location from your preceding week's article.

If you are planning on doing anything in the near future to cover musical materials used in graduation excercises, please let me know. I have a couple of songs, myself, but mainly I'm hoping to collect a few new infectious commercial items of the "We are the World" type, although hopefully not so worn out. There, I did manage to bring it somehow back to Earth Day, more or less.

Hi, David! I am very impressed with the fine display and wonderful, ala carte, assortment, of Woodcutter! Wonderful job!

Woodcutter Combinations

As to your inquiry about whether or not I will be doing an article for graduation ceremonies, the answer is not this time around, but if you would like to offer suggestions or co-write an article, I'll reserve a special section for your contribution. ;-) Wanna?

This Friday's article is on Multicultural Music resources and next week's is on circle games and that sort of thing, so if you have something to contribute, feel free to do so. And that goes for anyone else for that matter. :-)

In response to That's right, David. I remember the Please, Woodcutter song. It' posted by Deborah_Jeter:

Deborah - I'm posting this mainly to find out if there is any way that this Suite101.com setup still manages to alert you after all these years that you've had a reply. Frankly I'd be surprised, but meanwhile I really am impressed that Suite101 still provides such a great, uncluttered means of archiving.

I still believe that the articles and discussions you were responsible for way-back-what-will-soon-be-a-decade-ago are/were truly first rate and will stand the test of time.

By the way, just to blow my own horn once more for old times sake, the PLEASE WOODCUTTER Earth Day Song page has moved:

http://www.newtunings/kidmid/earthdayson...

Best wishes if this message-a-bottle manages to drift on aver you way. Maybe you can even stuff-and-send one of your own back my way.

As always, yours: dave @ kidmid.com
