Thanks! I'd like to especially second the use of "K-8". The recorder tunes are great, and the kids enjoy the cool accompaniments. These backgrounds make even BAG songs sound complicated and challenging! I'd be interested in seeing how other teachers incorporate recorder into their curriculum. My district is going to straight K-6 schools next year (this year, I only teach mainly 5 and 6). I'll be glad to be able to start kids on recorder at an earlier age, and would like some ideas!

Karen: Thank you for the above reference to BAG songs. I collect BAG songs because they are pentatonic! Thanks to you, I found M. C. Handel's page and gave him a link from my own list of pentatonic recorder compositions.

Anyone who is suspecting me of writing a spam message is absolutely right. To see my list of pentatonic recorder compositions, go to

I wrote a book of very easy recorder duets and trios. You might want to add this to the list of recorder links: http://members.aol.com/PG9Note

This music is by far the best! The only thing that comes close is the music of Don Muro. Just because someone's accompaniments sound nice, it doesn't mean the music is educationally sound.

There are currently a dozen of these excellent pieces. Don't miss out. Your students will know the difference. Go get it!

» Deborah_Jeter - Great resource!

Thanks for the link! This is a great resource!

This is exactly the kind of interaction we need from one another. Let's all share our resources with each other! I start my recorders next month with my fourth graders and can use as many ideas as I can get!

Thanks again for dropping by! :-)

I am also a great believer of using the recorder in children's music education programs. I also believe the recorder is a beautiful instrument in its own right and is not just a "pre-band" instrument. To that end I wrote a book for beginners on soprano recorder using almost entirely music from the recorder's past: medieval and renaissance tunes in duet form.
