and I often hear them talking about riding with a new person. It is a concern and can make or break a good ride, I understand.

Until and unless you can really get along and enjoy each other's company on lots of levels, things remain awkward.

Riding with a group can be easier. You can hang back and see how the dynamics work.

But, hey, this is motorcycle riding. I don't want to attach a bunch of psycho-social babble to it.
