» Red - A TRIP TO THE LIBRARY Holly,What a great article. I have read to my grandsons since they were about 5 months old. Now that they are 5 and 3, they love books. I often take the boys to the library. They love it and the oldest went to the library on Thursday with his junior kindergarten class. It is a new adventure every time. He also loves library day at school and makes very good choices of reading material. In short, he loves books. Every chance I get, I give the boys a gift of a book. They now have a small library of their own and look forward to receiving books from Grandma. If you get a chance, please take a look at my article for the Summer Reading Recommendations. It is titled, "For The Love Of Books." I'm sure you will enjoy it. This is an excellent article and I'm glad that I found it in the Reading Event titles. Keep up the good work. -- posted by Red » m2beab - Library Time My son is recently turned 3, and he could not wait. Where I live a child must be 3 years old to be in story time. Once he turned 3, the next week he was in there.Although story time is closed for the summer I will still be taking him up there. They have a Read-To-Me Program, so he'll be happy. They are so much fun, besides reading books and checking them out....they also do Arts & Crafts. What better way is there to spend an hour?? -- posted by m2beab » cihojuka - important point You bring up an important point: storytime isn't just sitting still and listening! Older kids do arts/crafts and younger kids get to move to music as well as sitting and listening. Don't be afraid to take your child to story time because he can't sit still for a half hour long story! He won't have to!-- posted by cihojuka
