» kerryhook - Absolutely agree I cannot understand why the school system allows this to go on. It seems they turn a blind eye to it.Sadly, it becomes so hurtful that some kids crack under the pressure and take guns to school. I feel that the school system, and all the kids who teased these gunmen mercilessly share the blame when kids go crazy and start shooting. I have heard that a Rabbi in Cleveland has started a national campaign against "gossip" because it is so hurtful. As I understand it, this will become part of a school program to curtail this behavior. Maybe this will help! -- posted by kerryhook » kluke39mc - Re: Absolutely agree In response to message posted by kerryhook:Peer pressure can be tough to endure, I think being accepted is a big concern for our kids. There is no way to avoid it...we just have to hope and pray that they have the coping mechanisms to use their own good judgement. Kids find ways to make others feel bad if they are not like them, and it takes wisdom and courage to get through it. Many times, kids are dealing with issues at home as well, that results in them looking to cope in other ways. It is growing and learning stage. We as parents have to maintain patience, being careful not to be overbearing. Let our kids know that no matter what they decide or endure...we are here for them. Those kids will usually get through, survive, and turn out just fine. We have all been there. Being a teen is tough. Moving from childhood into adulthood. Love and prayer is the best way we can be there for our kids. And no preaching, especially if our own lifestyles contradict what we are preaching. -- posted by kluke39mc
