As Rebecca wrote in her fine article, it is time to recognize the hand of God in things, and it is time to restore respect for religion. It has been wonderful seeing the rebirth of patriotism and revival of faith since the events of September 11. The question is how do we keep this going?

If we try to restore prayer to the schools, for example, or even attempt to bring back the traditional celebrations of Christmas in the schools, there will no doubt be a cry of outrage by the ACLU, atheists, and pagans, and non-Christians.

Is it possible to encourage respect for religion without being too specific, or alienating people? We do live, afterall, in a multi-cultural society.
