I've only read one card novel, Enders Game. He was recommended to me by everyone as an LDS author. It was a good book and I couldn't put it down, but I was disappointed by all the swearing and other aspects that didn't seem appropriate for someone who bragged about being LDS in the introduction. What is the difference between swearing on paper and in your speech? I wonder if other Saints found that disturbing, or if it's just me.

I've read several of Card's novels and while his subject matter is generally acceptable for LDS readers, he often has his characters swearing and doing other things that LDS readers may find offensive. I think that he is an excellent writer, but readers should be aware that his books are certainly not lily-white.
