» ZuriG - Corynebacterium and Diptheriea I have a question...Where it is explaining why people shouldn't stop getting vaccinated, I don't understand how and why the unvaccinated people would get it? Is it airborne? Or how?? I am doing this for a school project which is due Thursday and we have to be EXPERTS on the given topic. Could you please help me better understand this? Thank youSincerelyZurirGarciaciaia -- posted by ZuriG » NealC - Re: Corynebacterium and Diptheriea In response to message posted by ZuriG:Sorry I am probably too late to help you. However, the reason we still need to vaccinate is because the vaccine does not eliminate the bacteria's ability to live in our throats. The vaccine is only made up of the toxin that causes the damage in our bodies. Therefore, an unvaccinated person can get the bacterium from a vaccinated person when they sneeze or cough on them. The vaccinated person will not get sick because the toxin is eliminated by the antibodies already in their blood stream. The unvaccinated person will not have those antibodies and when infected with the bacterium the toxin will cause damage. -- posted by NealC
