» Sheila13 - preserving apples

I am wondering how to preserve dried apples for longer than a year. Is there a chemical other than sulfite to preserve them with for CRAFT purposes. I have seen dried apple slices in potpourris and have wondered what they use for preserving them. Can you help me?

Is there a sealant of some kind? Like a fruit glaze that I could dip my craft project in?

Thank You,
Sheila
