Skylark34,
I had surgery August of 2002, about 3 weeks after my surgery my incision areas began to fall apart. After many tests, the hospital discovered I had MRSA staph. I was sent home with a Pick-line in my left arm and put on Vancomycin. I began to have spiked fevers and chills, itched all over my body and severe headaches. I was hospitalized for 5 days and they finally figured out that I was allergic to the Vancomycin. They put me on a different IV drip and it worked very well. I had to give myself an IV drip every 8 hours at home. I did just fine. My only drawback was the side effects of the allergy to Vancomycin. It took me about 3 months to get back to normal health and heal my wounds. Best of luck to your daughter. She could inquire about home health care to come and administer her IV drips. I had a nurse come daily to change my bandages and check my vitals. It was very reassuring knowing they were there if I needed them.
