In response to message posted by Skylark34: Dear worried Mom, I hope by the time the-mailail reaches you there has been a considerable favorable change in your daughter's condition. As common as the MRSA virus is to hospitals it still remains a very serious threat to health. First I must tell you it is extremely contagious and strict medical asepsis should be used in any treatment for care, hand washing is one of the easiest ways to stop it's transmission. You yourself should be tested for this infection, if you have been in close contact with your daughter. Secondly, it is very important to kill the MRSA completely!! If the virus is allowed to remain in your daughter's system it will eventually become unaffected by the Keflex, allowing it to take over. Therefore it is very important that the Vancomycin be introduced right away. I hope this letter finds you well. Laurel (nurse) The insertion of what is called a butterfly may be what her physician is suggesting. This is typically a very small needle inserted in the upper arm with small tubing attached to it.(very little discomfort)The tubing allows for either a syringe to be inserted for pre-set doses of drugs or the continuous flow of the desired drug.
Intravenous absorption oVancomycin, Vancomycin is the quickest route.
