>>>Don't worry you're not alone...
I have been diagnosed with MRSA about 4 months ago. I am 27 and very worried about the same infections mentioned. The Dr. that I see had put me on Keflex 3X, Bactrim, Doxycycline and Augmentin. The abscess that I had above my knee was the 1st and he didn't do the culture. It wasn't till I came in again about 3 weeks later, and seen a different Dr. at the office, that the culture was done. When the results came in my regular Dr. started me on all these antibiotics. Each time he has tried a new antibiotic he combines it with Keflex. Now my 3rd abscess is clearing and I have been so scared of developing another. I am also afraid of becoming immune to all these antibiotics. I have been continuously sanitizing everthing in my home...in fear that my 3 children will get MRSA. I am considering seeing a different Dr. for another professional opinion. Maybe she might want to do the same...Hang in there and good luck....Niki

Doctors have tried Highly price Antibiotics, to surgical soapdettoltol tydisinfectantsnts. Even trihomoiopathichic means.

I fought an MRSA infection for almost a year. I spent 4 of those in the hospital and went home with a central line in. It was a combination of maxipin and vancomyacin (sp?) that finally helped me whip the MSRA. The wound care people found mine when my surgery line started turning yellowish and then a brownish color. I started draining badly.

For me, none of the oral antibiotics seemed to beat it, only the IV ones. I wasted several months going back and forth through the oral ones and finally got an infection disease doctor who wasted no more time. Anyway, that is my experience.

I have a client who got staph after surgery. They did nothing for her. What saved her was a research study her D.O. in the home town had read. It couldn't hurt. He got Depakote capsules (anti-seizure med) opened them and dumped it directly on the wound. It worked. I'm convinced she is alive because of him.

Dear Battle123,
I do not know for sure if this will help you or not.

I read that a group of scientist in Thailand studied the antibiotic properties of antioxidents called xanthones in the following product. Their conclusion was that it inhibited the growth of the staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Both the normal and penicillian resistant strains.

Please understand that I am not a medical professional nor do I make any claims as to the accuracy to the above statement.

» L5UT1ger - My Wife has MSRA...help

My wife has MSRA. She has been through Biaxin, Augmentin x2, Rifampin, two others i cant remember and is now on Zyvox. She has seen several MDs.

My concern is that she is having shortness of breath, chest pains, pressure induced headaches and is frustrated as heck.

I am worried that it may have gone in her heart or lungs. What is the test for this?

I had a sinus surgery in December of 2001, I was infected with staph along with stentomophorus maltophilia both found on ditry doctor's utensils. I have had every now antibiotic, treated gauze, 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions. I have visited the Mayo clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. The mayo clinic said I have to learn how to manage the infection so it does not spread into the brain and other areas. My currect doctor is not giving up so easily he is trying everything possible, next he wants to try a pick line or what would be my 5th surgery since infection. Only this surgery would require cutting up under my lip. None of this sounds appealing. I would just suggest that you don't give up and find a doctor that is going to try. The very best advice I can give is to pray. This is all I can do now.

» cjsmom - MRSA 6 months and still no REAL help

To all that are dealing with this crap...it really sucks. Our 2 year old son started with this in Jan 04. We had no idea what it was, just looked like a bump. His doctor said impetigo, then yeast, blah blah blah...after seeing the doctor for the 6th time she finally took a culture. MRSA!!!! He was in the emegency room on Christmas as we assume that, that is where it all started. The doctors did very little to help as far as seeing what meds would be best. He did well with Sulfameth/Trimethoprim. During the dealings with his MRSA, I got it. About 6 "bumps" on my rear end. Not fun at all, I developed a great deal of respect for my son now having to go thru the pain that he did. Keflex or Cephalexin was what the doctors gave me. It worked for a week or two. Then My husband got it, bad. He ended up with a hole under his buttock about the size of a quarter and every bit of a half inch deep. He was given the same meds. I took the sensitivity reports form my sons tests to my doctor and he gave me Sulfameth/Trimethoprim, then my husband as well. I thought it was finally gone. Here we sit nearly 6 months later and we all have it again. I have been doing some research of different medications that I hope doctors can help us all with. I went to search under Yahoo by LINEZOLID . This information made me feel a little more positive. The next step is to by-pass the regular doctor and go to a Desiese Control Specialist. Check your local areas...maybe there is some one there that can help you. But most definatly PRAY

» cjsmom - HERE TO STAY

Okay guys, this is what we learned for the "specialist" today. We are stuck with this. MRSA colonizes itself in our bodies. No matter the antibiotic, IV or oral, it will only go dormant. Kinda like cancer goes into remission. The best advise she could give me was to keep doing what we have been doing, keep washing our hands, keep any wounds covered (as not to spread it) keep cleaning with the bleach and so on. Hopefully, since it keeps spreading across, not only the country but the world, "THEY" will come up with something that will kill this stuff. My prayers are there for all that are suffering along side of my family.
