I HAD 3 ABDOMINAL SURGERIES(HYSTERECTOMY, REMOVAL OF ADHESIONS), THIS PAST SUMMER. AFTER EACH SURGERY I DEVELOPED AN INFECTION. I WAS TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTIC.(CAN NOT REMEMBER THE NAME) AFTER EACH SURGERY I BECAME VERY ILL, WITH SEVERE HEADACHE AND STOMACH PROBLEMS. FINALLY I WENT TO AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE DOCTOR. AFTER EVERY TEST UNDER THE SUN, SHE FOUND MSRA. MY GYNOCOLOGIST LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THIS WAS NO BIG THING. THEREFORE, I DID NOT TAKE ANY ANTIBIOTICS. NOW, 8 MONTHS LATER I NOTICED PUS AND ODOR COMING FROM MY INCISION AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN SICK AND IN PAIN SINCE MY FIRST SURGERY. CAN THE MSRA CAUSE ADHESIONS TO GROW MORE RAPIDLY? ANY ADVICE OF WHAT TO DO NOW? HOW SERIOUS IS THIS IF THE MSRA HAS BEEN IN MY BODY FOR 8 MONTHS UNTREATED?-- posted by tanyaelaine » smokey41 - Re: MSRA Hello to everyone fighting these very serious infections, I've read all the entries concerning staph infections and i have become increasinglyworried because I've just been diagnosed with a staph infection after months of antibiotic treatment, only to have this infection reaccure somewhere else on my body. The most troubling of all is that I have not read any stories of anyone beating this infection. I've been on antibiotics off and on, for about three month now. I would like to know if there is hope that I will ever beat this infection? Is there an end to these chronic episodes of boils and sores? I would love to hear from someone who has had success in fighting this, and what is their advice

From what I know it is uncureable. I have dealt many painful years with this problem. I am 28 going on 29 and I developed my first experience with Hidradenitis Suppurativa when I was 5 yrs old. I seen 5 different Dermatoligists until 3 yrs ago when I was diagnosed with it. My first surgery didn't do anything except leave me more self concious with my scars then I had already been. It started to show up on my thighs when I was 5 yrs old. I couldn't go to gym class in grade five and be a normal little girl. When I was 16 yrs old, they started developing undernieth my breasts then continued in my groin both sides as well as underneith my arms. The doctor that finally correctly diagnosed me with Hidradenitis Suppurativa, put me on anti biotics and that did nothing but caused untollerable nausiousness. Shortly after that I had surgery and knowing it was uncurible, it reoccured b/c the glands that were infected, were aggitated and it ripped the stiches open. So once again more pain! Still today I suffer and cry. I guess what my question is..... Have microlabs found any new cures or pain reliefs or new antibiotics for Hidradenitis Suppurativa? My email is hailey2005@hotmail.com If you have any answers could you please email them to me. The reason I ask for this request is because I don't know how often I will be able to come back to this site... thank you ....-- posted by cnjune14 » NealC - Re: Any New Remedies for Hidradenitis Suppurativa? He had surgery on his rotator cuff on 12/1 and shortly thereafter developed an infection. He was put on oral antibiotics, the condition worsened, and he was hospitalized. He had two surgeries to clear the infection and was put on IV Merren and Vancomyocin. Although we have no been told it is a staph infection, it is our firm belief. Since I have been with him from the becoming and have handled everything he's handled, etc., I am in danger of contracting this disease? I am 61 years of age, in reasonably good health other than fibromyalgia and arthritis. After reading other postings, I am concerned about this. I was told by his nurse "not to worry about it" because he is on very strong antibiotics, but what about before that? I changed his dressing, etc., and did not know what it was? Am I in danger?-- posted by sunshine87 » necneven - Staph cures My cousin was recently shot, and is in ICU at vanderbuilt, and has been diagnoised with a Staph Infection, they are not giving him a very good chance at survival b/c of the infection, and the hospitial was telling us of some innovations of cures somewhere in Brazil, if someone could give me some more information on this infection and possible cures, if any...It would greatly be appreciated.
