I am noticing this also. Have you been cleared of MRSA through nasal swabs during the winter months? And are we just paranoid and think maybe every bump maybe another outbreak? I find myself worried about every sore spot that feels hard now. But now that I know what to look for, I can catch it early.

» alilovich - Carrier of MSRA

Hello,
I am looking for a response from the doctor. No one has any answers for me. My husband was just diagnosed with msra and is on septra and doxicycline. I was just tested to see if I am a carrier (results in 48 hours). I need to know how long a person is a carrier. And what precautions I need to take, assuming I am a carrier, as to not infect anyone else. I am the caretaker of a 10 week old healthy infant. Can I have contact with this baby or not? I'm staying at a friend's house and I am currently not having any contact with my husband. Once he completes his course of antibiotics is it safe for me to move back home? If I am a carrier of mrsa in my nose, how is it transmitted (via air?) Please help - the family doctor doesn't know any of these answers.

» Pyroderma - mrsa

I just watched a news show that said that there is an epidemic of mrsa cases in the general communities. After reading about the problem I wanted to post this in hopes that it may help someone. When I was 5 years old I began getting "sores" for no apparent reason. They would become infected and basically eat up the area until the endless antibiotics would kick in. As a result I have huge scares all over my body.
I saw numerous doctors and specialists, none could explain why I would, for no apparent reason continue to have these breakouts.
I basically lived on antibiotics, trying to find one that would control the infection and lived with huge sores, from 5yrs to 13yrs. Then we moved to S.A. Texas. My mom took me to a doctor there who she had heard of and this doctor who prescribed Prednizone along with the antibiotics. Miraculously the sores began to clear up more rapidly. I can't say for sure why this seemed to help and I continued to have breakouts until I was 17. At that point they stopped, until I was 21. I developed a very painful spot between my toes on my right foot and a hot red bump, not a boil, more like protrusion. Because I was so familiar with infection I went to the doctor immediately (I lived in CA at that point). I explained my history and the past treatment. Thankfully the doctor did not disregard the info. He drained the abscess, packed it with gauze, and put me on Erythromycin and Prednizone. It healed up in 10 days and thankfully the cycle did not start again.
I am 44 years old and the only diagnosis I ever receiveded wwas Pyroderma Gangrenosa After reading many of the postings it sounds very similar. I am very sorry for all you are going through and I hope this helps someone.

My daughter is 17 and was about 3 months pregnant when she was diagnosied with mrsa. the doctor repeatly put her on the same antibotics for the boils she was getting but did was doing no good. when she was 9 months (36 weeks) we changed doctors and the boil was cultured and showed mrsa. he put her on a different antibotics and a week later when he did an ultrasound the baby's heart rate was low so he sent her not 3 minutes down the hall to labor and delivery.. when she got there and they were hooking the monitor up they got a 110.. 70 ... and then nothing on the baby's heart beat. by the time the doctor got down there the baby had died. they say mrsa had no effect on the baby but im not so sure after reading stories about how dangerous it is. i would like to find out for sure if it effects unborn babies or not.. her baby was small.. weighing 3 lbs and 8 oz.. and 16 in.. long..

» menace866 - Unsanitary ICU video on web if dad dies, are webcam for each pat

http://www.germcrimes.us/

Subject: Unsanitary ICU video on web if dad dies, are webcam for each patients area for family with password!

If a law like this is passed: If the U.S. Government would pass a law for all hospitals and nursing homes to have a webcam on each patients area if the patient request it so that the families and the doctors can check on them from the web with a password I will not take action listed below!

Action if dad dies: On April 12, 2005 the doctor told my mother that it is in Gods hands. If it is in Gods hands the Hospitals and Stock Marketers need to start praying because if my dad dies the video of the unsanitary conditions in the cardiac ICU where he was at and the name of the worldwide known Houston, TX hospital that was voted #1 by a major U.S. Newspaper will be all over the Internet!

Question: If they notice in about three minutes or less with a high tech security camera in the ICU above my dad’s area on the ceiling that I was video-recording with a close to credit card size DV camcorder why did they not notice the unsanitary conditions that was there for days?

Solution: Most hospitals and healthcare workers are not going to whistle blow on each other because of Medicare, lawsuits and the stock market etc. If healthcare workers were under a Microscope 90,000 Americans would not die each year from hospital-acquired infections and it would not add nearly $5 billion per year to our nation's health care costs etc. Webcams and motion capture software is a cheap easy solution, you will know when someone is in the patients area and you can make sure they are following proper protocol!

Story: On February 24, 2005 at a worldwide known hospital in Houston, TX in the cardiac ICU if I would not have video-taped the unsanitary conditions where my father was located at he would be dead today from resistant germs.

I know the truth and the hospitals will not be able to sweep their errors under the carpet any more. When the healthcare workers notice what I was doing they became helpful with my dad and called in two doctors.

Latter that night when we went to check on my dad his bed sheets was super clean and the sink was spotless. Know one should have to suffer and die because some healthcare workers do not follow Proper hand sanitation etc., to prevent germs from spreading to other patients.

The next day I called the health department they told me it was a good thing what I did because it put the ICU on full protocol what they should have been on all along. I only fear God not man and I will not stop until the whole world knows the truth about hospital-acquired infections.

My dad was infected with MRSA and it is in his blood (sepsis), but I think it is VRSA and they just don’t want to admit it. Ever since my dad was infected I have be studying about germs and a few of the laws on the Internet. If the hospitals wants me to shut up they need to find a solution to the germ problems!

There are twenty one different species of MRSA. It is nearing epidemic levels in small communities with medical staff that seems to be unaware of its overwhelming potential. Next time you have an outbreak, be sure to find out the result of the culture no. and compare it to others in you immediate area. It is possible to find ut if it is colonynizing within your body and if it is, there are treatments available to combat it.
