» can5960 - staph/mrsa in lungs?

I had the mrsa in my lungs last summer(july 2005)
was in hospital for 3 weeks, treated with vancomyasin through IV.
september 2005 and october 2005 developed cysts inder arm, 7 of them which were lanced in er and a cyst on tailbone also lanced in er.
i think it may be coming back in lungs-is this possible and are the cysts connected to the infection from july?
if it is in my lungs again, will it kill me???

Hello, I am not a medical professinal. Just a family member is going through some of the same. He has the infection around his heart, the way they found this was from a cat scan. He just had open heart surgery because of it rupturing main vein from heart and might have another tear. But talk to doctor about doing cat scan to see if it detects it. Like I said I am not a medical proffesional, so use your own descretion on matter.

» heart1959 - Staph 11months after Hysterectomy, Pain Can anyone help?

In response to Re: Re: Help us please? posted by can5960:

Hi,
I am 46 years old and I was a great teacher until December 20,2004 when I had hysterectomy, pretty routine or so I thought. This is a living nightmare, since then I have been to over 20 doctors, and even had a lower back fusion in July to relieve the pain, without luck. I found out yesterday from the infectious diseas Dr. that it could be in the bone. I can't sit, the butt bone on the left side and lower leg and hip in feverish and painful, my buttock lesions thought first shingle, now staph. It begin the 2 day after my surgery and I haven't been out of pain yet. I can't work and my insurance say that it preexisting and there is no way. I have never billating pain ever. This has ruined my life, finances, and personal well being. My youngest son is a gifted athlete playing football at the University of Oklahoma, which I am so proud, but I can enjoy even a simple game. I hurt! Pain! Can anyone help me?

We have been dealing with this for about a year now. We own a tree service so at first we thought they were spider bites. Everyone on our crew had gotten one. When my husband got one we took him to the hospital we were told that it was a brown recluse spider bite. They lanced it opened and drained it and sent him home. He has since had only a few more and hasnt had one in quite awhile. While my son has been getting them for over a year now he has been treated with several different antibiotic. None of them have work. The last time he got one of these we were giving a prescription that cost almost $500. I though surely this is gonna work. Well it did for awhile he now has three on him at the same time. I dont know what to do. He is otherwise very healthy and has never had surgery. I dont have insurance and while we do make good money I dont have the money to pay for a Infection Disease Doctor. Is there any kind of charity that helps with this. I dont know what else to do for him. He has not been diagnosed with MSRA but from what Ive read here today it sounds like thats what it is. From time to time the rest of us will get one but nothing like my son deals with. I feel for everyone that has to deal with and I know how painful they are. I have had two myself. The only thing I can do for him is to either take him back to the hospital and let them put him on another antibiotic that isnt going to work or just keep him home and squeeze the boils till we get the core out of them. Can anyone suggest anything....

» ana36 - HELP! i have staph but im allergic to keflex

im 21 and i am a full time caregiver for my grandmother who has alzheimers. i need help, info, and advice but i cant find more than 30 seconds at a time to search.
2yrs ago i developed these sores on my legs that seemed to be ingrown hairs, then it eventually spread, um upwards, my butt cheaks and was much worse there. 9months ago i THOUGHT i had a brown recluse spider bite. 7 months ago my new doctor discovered my legs and the "bite" was from staph in my hair follicles. unfortunately im allergic to keflex, but it wasnt so bad then so i didnt worry.5 months ago i discovered i have heart problems that so far are extremely difficult to diagnose, the one certain is i have "floppy valves"
i happened to stumble across an article about staph infections starting in the skin and leading to the heart valves. im curious to know which came first my staph or my heart problems, but more importantly im terrified. please someone help me, please... i dont know what to do, i have no info and i "work" around 13 hours a day 7 days a week.
