Recently a friend of mine came down with what everyone thought was strep throat. After he became more ill the next day, and his throat started swelling, the doctors determined he had diphtheria. Although he received all his vaccinations when he was young, he still managed to contract the disease. I visited him in the hospital before they knew he had diptheria, and now I am worried that I may have been exposed. I plan on getting a booster vaccination as soon as possible, even though I am 43 years old. Just to let everyone know, diptheria is still around, and every adult should have booster shots every ten years. Word to the wise.-- posted by PokyDave
