» Debstar13 - K. Pneumoniae

I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. I felt it was pelvic inflammatory disease, because I had pain. I had a positive cervical culture for klebsiella pneumoniae. Does anyone know of any information concerning klebsiella pneumoniae infections in the female genitals? So far I can only find it in horses. I believe it is capable of causing ovarian failure, I just need to prove it. I also at the same time developed conjunctivitis then keratitis. I had shingles a year ago so my dr feels it was reactivated. I am only 38. My eos was normal. I've been having chest pain with movement or when I put pressure on it. All of this occurred at the same time. I really feel all the entities coexist. Since my eos was normal they don't think it's reiter's. If anyone knows of any case reports. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks

» leelanau - KB in vaginal area!!

Hi there!! It's been months since you all stopped writing here, however you were very helpful with your comments. I have a severe growth of KP on my vagina, and it has been there for about 8 months without responding to anything. The only symptom besides the whitey stuff is cervical pain and inflammation. Thanks to you all I'm about to try tanafem (www.intensivenutrition.com), a vaginal-use form of tanalbit. I really hope this finally helps stop this overgrowth of the bacteria, which isn't normal. I agree with doctor NealC, we are a bunch o babies, this bacteria and many others are normal in the organism, and we shouldn't eliminate them, just control their overgrowth and keep healthy living habits. Stress is much more harmful than the diseases themselves, stop trying to correlate one symptom with another, just breathe, relax, rest, eat well, exercise, and focus on getting well, not in how bad you feel.
Have a great life, everybody!!

» SUSAN22845 - Treatments for "Klebsiella pneumoniae

My mother was diagnosed with the bacteria in her urine sample Klebsiella pneumoniae. Cipro hasn't worked and they now placed her on another antibiotic with no relief. The counts in the urine sample are the same. Our concern is that she has been on periodic Cytoxan treatments for a repetitive acute transverse myelitis attacks. The hope is that she will not have another flare up. The recent attack temporarily paralyzed her arm. The older attacks left her paralyzed from the waist down and she is in a wheel chair. Given this information can you make any comment as to what this bacteria does to you, do you have to remain on an extended antibiotic treatment, since she doesn't walk or stand for that matter are there other concerns.

Thank You

» jeffrybyrd - infection spreading?

Hello-

My son had a boil on his leg which turned out to be a staph infection. It turned out to be MRSA. We have no idea how he got it. We eventually got rid of it with a medication that contained Sulfa. I can't remember the name. My wife, consequently, had an ingrown hair on her leg which turned into a staph infection. It was also MRSA. She treated it with cephalaxin, didn't work. Then she got Zyrox, which worked on the MRSA, but the sore was still there. The culture showed that she had Klebsiella pneumonia. They prescribed cyproxin, which helped somewhat, but she still has a small sore on her leg. I'm worried that she still has it in her system. Now she has a persistent cough. I'm worried that the infection has spread to her lungs. We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Could anyone give us a head's-up as to what to ask the doctor or what to expect? Am I over-reacting?

In response to infection spreading? posted by jeffrybyrd:

She may still have an infection in that localized area. It could also be that it is taking some time for the damage done by the infection to heal. I think it is good that you are taking your son to a physician for them to look at it.

» hellcatt - my klebsiella experience

Wow! I just happened to do a search on klebsiella, and I stumbled upon this discussion. No one has posted in a while, but I thought I'd post my experience here in hopes that it might help someone else.

A few years ago, my lungs didn't feel right. I was getting wheezy whenever I walked in the SF fog. And I'd get wheezy during and (especially) after working out. I knew something was wrong, but I didn't know what it was. I went to a doctor, who told me I had asthma. She gave me prescriptions for pills and inhalers. I started using them, and my lungs worked better, but I knew there was still something wrong. When I went back to the doctor to tell her that something was still wrong, she gave me more asthma meds.

The neighbor of a friend of mine was a naturopath, and I told her about my problem. She had some electronic diagnostic equipment that uses a form of biofeedback to test for all sorts of things in the body. Her test showed that I had a good amount of klebsiella in my system. She said that from the amount of klebsiella in my system, I probably had had pneumonia five years before and never fully got over it. Sure enough, about five years before, my band was on tour, and I was VERY sick, and I didn't get the bedrest I should have had (and *desperately* wanted). And that was when my lung problems started, but I didn't realize the link.

So, she put me on Grapefruit Seed Extract, primarily. The GSE did give me a couple of pimples on my face, but within two weeks, my lungs felt NORMAL! I haven't used the asthma meds or inhalers since. And for those rare occasions when I start getting that wheezy feeling, I take GSE for a few weeks.

I'd also like to say something about the incident with the health food storeowner. Although it wasn't a candida infection, I think that was a pretty good guess. But treating our health problems by guessing is problematic. I, personally, have spent way too much money buying supplements because I thought I was having symptoms of certain illnesses. Most of the time, I was wrong in my self-diagnosis (since so many illnesses have similar symptoms), and the supplements I purchased didn't help. Reliable diagnostic tests can tell you what you have, and from there, you can seek the treatment that seems right for you, whether it be allopathic, homeopathic, naturopathic, or whatever you believe in.

» rspicci - Klebsiella Pneumoniae

I just received the news that my UTI is Klebsiella. I started with the UTI on Monday & started a course of Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid), which is not really sensitive to the bacteria, but not really resistant either. I am not getting any better & seem to be worse. Where did I get this? Reading some of the previous posts, I certainly have a lot of questions. July 2005 I had Uterine Fibroid Embolization surgery which involved having a catheter. January 9, 2006 my mother (82 years & reasonably healthy) ended up in the hospital, she was finally diagnosed with MRSA & passed away on January 26th. My dear, sweet wonderful mother spent 3 weeks in pure agony. She was in so much pain & the Vancomycin just wasn't working. The doctor said that essentially, the virus was just laughing in her face. I spent the last week of her life in the hospital with her. MRSA is an extremely serious infection, & is prevalent in the hospitals. She had eye surgery in December, it is possible she picked it up there. She had a double mastectomy in 2000, & ended back up in the hospital with a serious infection 3 days after the surgery. After she passed away, I became ill & ended up with a strain of viral meningitis. Since it was a virus, antiobiotics were not prescribed since they wouldn't work anyway. It just had to run it's course. I had a case of food poisoning last week, but they weren't sure what the type of infection it was. It seemed to clear up on it's own. I have been having chest pains since the weekend, this is something I have had in the past that was diagnosed as inflammation in the cartilidge of the ribs. It hurts to touch my chest, breathe and sleeping on my side is virtually impossible. I have not been to the doctor for this one yet. Now this morning, I wake up with a sore, similar to a pimple on my finger that hurts just to touch it & is very hot. What the heck is going on? Where did all this crap come from? Can it all be related, a chain of events kind of thing and what do I have to look forward to? My gyno's office said it was possible it came from the swimming pool. It's been extremely hot here & the pool was about 97 degrees or so. Not sure what antiobiotic they are switching me to, but it's only for 3 days. Is that enough? Any suggestions?
