» Baffled - Re: Re: Re: Re: Underarm odor

Well, I'm lucky enough to work in an office by myself. But, of course, I still have some contact with my co-workers. I go to ladies' room about every 2 hours - wash underarms with soap and water and reapply deodorant. Then I pray it doesn't start up in-between washings. I found that washing with soap and water works better than wipes, alchohol swabs, etc. If you can break away and visit washroom every hour, that might get you through the day. I feel for you. I know what you're going through. There must be a medical answer to this.....

» GeoStorm - Any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

I have read all of the postings here and was encouraged to post myself.I am a 21 year old male... well like all of you here i suffer from the same underarm odor problem, I have tried almost everything and i have found out that shaving under the arms helps alot atleast for me, every deodorant i have tried so far has been a complete failure, here is a home remedy that has worked for me since the problem started: 1 spoon of baking soda, 1 spoon of baby powder, 1 spoon of water and simply mix those three elements and apply some under your arms, it should only take a minute or two to dry. That remedy successfully works for me for the entire day i don't have to worry about my odor problem. Hope it successfully works for any of you willing to try.

Thanks GeoStorm. Will give it a try. But curious.....why baby powder? I have heard that zinc oxide can kill the bacteria and of course zinc oxide is in diaper rash ointments....in baby powder also?

In response to message posted by Baffled:

Well i haven't really tried zinc oxide but if it works for you better then my remedy go for it, i haven't had the need to try anything else then the home remedy i posted. But if any of you finds a way to permanently get rid of the problem be sure to let me know. I don't know exactly why the remedy recommends baby powder but it works for me.

I am a mother of two with the same problem as everyone here. I'm glad to know I'm not alone because it's so difficult to be around other people when you know they can smell you and are thinking you probably never bathe or don't use deoderant. Has anyone heard of a surgery where they cut somthing in your armpit and this stops your entire body from sweating. I would be willing to have surgery if it ment this problem would go away.

In response to message posted by dboo:

I would encourage you to go to your physician and discuss the problems associated with this surgery. It is probably not reversible and you might have a bigger problem.

Don't know that that would do much good anyway. I do not have excessive sweating, just odor problem so stopping the moisture may not help. The only solution I have found is to excuse myself to restroom every hour or so and SCRUB underarms with soap and water and then re-apply antiperspirant (spray works best). I carry Lever 2000 wipes and solid deordorant in my purse for those occassions I can't get to soap and water. I'm curious if Narcissus 72 saw a nutritionist and what the out come was?......
