» lenagraham2001 - Armpit Odor

Hello,

I am a 31 year old female and I have never had a body odor problem til now. I am extremely clean, take showers daily and use anti-bacterial soap. I do work out everyday, but right after I take a shower. I have used every single kind of deoderant/anti-persperant out there. I shave all the normal places a girl should shave..armpit and legs. I eat a very good diet, lots of fruit and veggies. I also eat red meat, but not a lot. I usually eat chicken or turkey. The thing that really changed me, was that about 8 months ago, I went on the Adkins Diet. I ate only protein and no carbs. Since then my body chemistry has totally changed. Is it possible that Adkins diet is responsible for this? I can think of no other reason. Is there any medication or topical creams I could use? Should I consult my doctor or my dermotologist?

Thank you.

I have never had an odor problem until I was pregnant with my third child. The deodorant that I used failed to work. I tried a different one and that seemed to help. Now that I've had the baby, the deodorant that I switched to is not working. I tried to go back to the previous deodorant and that didn't work. I tried a different one and that made me break out. I take daily showers (sometimes two) and I always use deodorant. I am at a total loss of what to do. Does this maybe have something to do with my hormones due to having the baby? What should I do?

In response to message posted by mommyof003:

It probably is due to your being pregnant. There are a large number of different deodorants available. I would try a few more brands. You might consider using an antiperspirant/deodorant. The increased perspiration during pregnancy maybe part of the problem. Antiperspirants are more irritating so watch carefully for outbreaks on your skin and quit using the product if you have a problem. Hope that helps.

I would suggest you see your doctor. they might be of help to you. I would also change my diet and see if that makes a difference.

» mschlich - Suggestions please

Dr. Chamberlain:

Like some others posted before me, I have noticed a odor under my arms - just started about 1.5 years ago and I'm 29. I've tried all types of anti\deods and only one has helped a little (Dove) with sweating but the odor comes back after a couple of hours. I shower twice a day with Lever soap. I'm going to try a anit\deod advertised on the internet called Maxim...do you recommend I see my doctor about the odor? Thank you for any info you may have.

I couldn't believe it when I read the postings on this site. I am a 30 year old female who has been having this problem for months now. I also have tried everything, different deoderants/anti-persperants etc. and nothing seems to work! I am extremely frustrated since I am also a very clean person. I also work out and eat like you do, however I have never been on the Adkins Diet. I cannot think of anything that I have done different to cause this problem. I have asked my doctor and he has no advice for me!!! If anyone ever figures it out please email me!!!

Do you drink coffee? Sometimes coffee drinkers will sweat more. This sweat will help the organisms in the armpits to grow faster and produce the odor.

Thanks for responding. I do drink coffee but only 2 cups, at the most, each morning. Is this enough to cause this problem?
