To be picky with your response:
The stated conclusion was that necessary oxygen was obtained from the sugar. This is incorrect, because no oxygen is required for the fermentation. Chemoheterotrophs using anaerobic metabolism transfer electrons to organic compounds rather than inorganic compounds such as oxygen. For example, pyruvate becomes lactic acid.
