What is Metaphysical Christianity: Whoa!Read the article this discussion is about

» Carrie_Smith - Whoa! Yvette! You are taking John 10:34 WAY out of context!! Jesus didn't say that we are Gods!! He was referring to what the Jewish law said at that time. As far as having God in us...not everyone is a child of God. Jesus said that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that no man comes to the Father but through Him. So for someone to truly be a Christian, he or she must know Christ as their personal Savior; then the Holy Spirit dwells within him or her. And then, only then, are they a child of God, adopted into His family. Which brings me to my next "beef"...Genesis says that only man (and woman) was created in the image of God. Therefore, plants and animals cannot have God in them. Created by Him, yes. The definition you yourself used for spirit said human beings -- even *it* didn't include plants and animals! I think, first of all, that if you're going to be truly delving into the deeper meaning of what the Bible has to say, you should use more than just one dictionary. I would suggest using a commentary that gives the definitions of the original words from their Greek and Hebrew roots.Sorry to be so critical, but one of my pet peeves is when people take Scripture out of context and twist it around to fit their own argument.
