Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.-- posted by _Boanerges_

In response to Galatians 6:2 posted by _Boanerges_:I have lots of burdens. I guess you do to, and so does everyone, but each of us has different burdens to bear. I can carry some of my burdens alone, and some, others can help me carry. There are three burdens that I can share with others and they in turn can help me bear them - faults, tension, and grief. And, boy, do I ever have plenty of faults. Tension also. Tension goes with living today. Right at present, I do not have any grief, although I was crying this morning because Bear has been ill with his pancreas and he is already 13 years old. He probably will not be with me too much longer.
And on down in Galatians 6:5 it says For every man shall bear his own burden.
Well, which is it? It is both. We bear some and we share some.
We cannot share our suffering. I have to suffer alone. No one can suffer for me. I have to die myself. No human can enter my body and die for me. Jesus has already died for me and He is the only one who can. I have to stand before Jesus at the Bema Seat. No one can do that for me.
We reap what we sow. We don't reap what another sows. The last is sin. I cannot share my sin with anyone, nor can I bear it. But I can cast my burden upon the Lord at the cross and that is the only way I can loose it. Psalm 55:22
"...fulfill the law of Christ." Why does Paul use these specific words? Do you think that the "Law of Christ" is the same as what James calls the "perfect law of liberty?" Now, Paul says that bearing one another's burdens fulfills the law of Christ. There is a definite similarity between bearing each others burdens spoken by Paul in 6:2 and loving our neighbor as ourselves spoken by James in James 2:8. Do you think that the "law of Christ" is the same as the "royal law" spoken by James in 2:8? Also, Paul's instruction to fulfill the "law of Christ" by bearing each other's burdens in Galatians 6:2 is also very similar to Paul's statement in Galatians 5:13 where he instructs us to use our liberty by "serving one another." Why has this been stated and restated several times, though in different ways?

In response to Re: Galatians 6:2 posted by Dubh_Sidhe:Hi Virginia...
I'm sorry to hear of Bear not feeling so good today. I hope he is feeling a little better now. I had my Bear for 11 years... A weird thing about, burdens.. and our animals...
I had my Bear since he was a puppy. I remember, right before he disappeared, my brother made a comment about if I loved my dog, like a person. I never thought of loving my dog such as say, my brother or sister. Yet, after he disappeared, oh.. my.. did I love that ole dog. What a good friend. I looked and looked for him, but.. he was gone for good.. Such a burden that was, and is.
Only time now has healed this loss. He was a good ole boy.. so smart.. so much fun.. Yep.. I loved him like a brother. What made it even more harder was the fact that I was told his disappearance was from suspicious reasons. Well.. I have never seen Bear since that day. But, I know he knew he was loved and I hope that I gave him a good home.. I will see him again.
13 years is a privelage for sure.. I can tell by looking at his picture he too is a happy dog.. He too will always be, even though we may be seperated for just a short while...
I remember that a few years back, I found a nice picture of my Bear that I had taken, and long had forgotten. I was happy to find it, and now, it sits in the other room. Everyone always talks about him, even to this day, five years later, We have so many fun, good stories of my ole Bear. He was part of our family for sure. I learned a lesson that day, and I won't soon forget it as well. Everyone keeps askin me when I will get another Labrador. I think I will start looking for one again, maybe even a Yellow one!
You offered some very good, sound biblical principles, worthy to follow up with. Maybe tommorrow then.. but for now.. I will let you go so you can spend a little extra time with more important things, such a giving Bear a little extra time, all just for him

In response to Re: Re: Very positive piece. posted by Dubh_Sidhe:I don't think there are many parents who got through the parenting years without making mistakes. I'm reminded of Maya Angelou's words and I don't think I have it exact but to the effect, "I did the best I knew how to do at the time, when I knew better I did better." I think that is the process of growing emotionally and spiritually.

» _Boanerges_ - Faith in action...
In response to Re: Galatians 6:2 posted by Dubh_Sidhe:Do you think that the "law of Christ" is the same as the "royal law" spoken by James in 2:8?
James and Paul are each describing; faith in action. They are discussing the: Doing of the word of God, not being just hearers of the word.
James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Galatians 6:4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
re: Paul's instruction to fulfill the "law of Christ" by bearing each other's burdens in Galatians 6:2 is also very similar to Paul's statement in Galatians 5:13 where he instructs us to use our liberty by "serving one another."
Why has this been stated and restated several times, though in different ways?
From Paul he stresses Faith is what saves, then our works are added. From James, he stresses that from our faith, produces works.
Bear ye one another's burdens....
Basically, this means to forgive others of their sins against them; to love one another.. Whereas 'the law of Moses' was opposite of this. That is, the law had no mercy....
Therefore, because Christ died for our sins, to forgive - mercy, we are to practice this, one among another, as a practical application of the Gospel message, to love one another.... But one must love God to know, he must love those who they live with daily.
Jesus explains this more clearly from the 'Sermon on the Mount' found in Matthew 5....

In response to Faith in action... posted by _Boanerges_:These verses, the "law of Christ" and the "royal law" seem, on the surface, to be entirely different from one another. This is a clear example which shows the importance of the Holy Spirit's guidance in reading God's Word. A ministry of the Holy Spirit is to take the Word of God, apply it to our hearts, and teach us what we need to know. Dr. David Jeremiah calls this "illumination." Without the Holy Spirit we will never understand the Bible. Faith and works has baffled many over the years, and yet it could not be clearer that both are in agreement. v
