These verses, the "law of Christ" and the "royal law" seem, on the surface, to be entirely different from one another. This is a clear example which shows the importance of the Holy Spirit's guidance in reading God's Word. A ministry of the Holy Spirit is to take the Word of God, apply it to our hearts, and teach us what we need to know. Dr. David Jeremiah calls this "illumination." Without the Holy Spirit we will never understand the Bible. Faith and works has baffled many over the years, and yet it could not be clearer that both are in agreement. v
