» Zanzi - I love your articles!

And I really appreciate the way you explain these holy days to me (and others as well, I'm sure) who has no real understanding of the deep meaning they hold. Would it be correct to say that Hanukah is a form of spiritual thanksgiving, whereby Jews give thanks for the divine providence and also assurance (as evidenced in the miracle)?

Hi Lee,

I agree with Sylvia. I love your articles and I always come away with a greater understanding and appreciation of the holy days and traditions. This is a beautiful story, beautifully told. Thank you!

Well, I would love to be a Jewish philosopher, Sylvia, but alas I can only say I am saved which is all and everything. But I would say that, yes, Hanukah is a form of spiritual thanksgiving because it has been said that without Hanukah, there may never have been a Jewish community in the land of Israel, into which Messiah Jesus was born over a century later. Divine Providence saved the Jewish people through God's chosen helper, Judah Maccabee. Since history repeats itself, there will be another future miracle, and another future temple cleansing for the Jews to give thanks. I believe the miracle was a sign to the people of that time, but can be carried over today since there is clearly another Antiochus Epiphanes on today's horizon in the form of Al-Qaida. We don't seem to have miracles today as in Biblical days, but a miracle will happen. God's word is clear that the Jewish feasts and thanksgivings will never end.

It is a beautiful story, Tina, and a true one. Without the Jews we would have nothing worthwhile. A Jew, Messiah, created your beautiful night sky. I cannot imagine life devoid of them. They have given humanity so much...

through your writing, Lee, as I don't know much about Hanukkah, though I have heard the story of the oil burning for eight days.

Thanks for another lesson!

Thanks for sharing this Dubh.... Another wonderful article... I'm taking notessmile

Divine Providence saved the Jewish people through God's chosen helper, Judah Maccabee.

As our beloved Dr McGee has said: "God raised up Judah Maccabee"....

I could only imagine that day in which they lived, and what courage these men (and their women) had, to overcome such immense suffering. A timely reminder for us 'Western Christians' to remember all those who laid down their lives for our Lord and our God... Faith in action, beyond any doubt.

I believe the miracle was a sign to the people of that time, but can be carried over today since there is clearly another Antiochus Epiphanes on today's horizon in the form of Al-Qaida.

Indeed. I would have to most certainly agree...Antiochus Epiphanes, the Syrian! Isaiah 17 is ahead of us..... But, these things must be..

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving Virginia! I am thankful you are part of the Suite, and sharing your many insights and good knowledge with us... I have learned quite alot from you.. Thank you! Looking forward to more of these wonderful teachings and your fellowshipsmile

W...

And I have certainly learned a great deal from you, Wendell, and I am grateful and thank you. I am confident that God led you here. I also appreciate your guidance in "setting me straight" on Cain. I wrestled with that for some time. Call it my song of anguish.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day as you walk with God.
