Hanukah is a form of spiritual thanksgiving because it has been said that without Hanukah, there may never have been a Jewish community in the land of Israel, into which Messiah Jesus was born over a century later.

Divine Providence saved the Jewish people through God's chosen helper, Judah Maccabee.

As our beloved Dr McGee has said: "God raised up Judah Maccabee"....

I could only imagine that day in which they lived, and what courage these men (and their women) had, to overcome such immense suffering. A timely reminder for us 'Western Christians' to remember all those who laid down their lives for our Lord and our God... Faith in action, beyond any doubt.

I believe the miracle was a sign to the people of that time, but can be carried over today since there is clearly another Antiochus Epiphanes on today's horizon in the form of Al-Qaida.
