» PLURcrazy - Sin?

I think it was very wrong for Lora to say it is a sin to have sucicidal thoughts or to want to die.
No one asks to have a mental illness in their life. Its is a disease and cannot be helped. Who are you to judge someone else feelings about her depression? No one wants to see anyone die of depression but it is very hard to live with so much intense pain all the time. I know from personal experiences.

My point in including Lora's comments was to illustrate that the "repent and be saved" attitude is quite pervasive in our society. That some fundamentalist Christians or possibly extremists in any faith connect their faith with mental illness in a way that it is not meant to be.

Thanks for writing.

It is a wonder how folks view depression and mental illness. You bring these issues to light. Jerri
