The Weight Gain - What to Do?Read the article this discussion is about

» shiloh - Thanks for sharing this... ...and for writing about this issue the past few weeks. When I was put on lithium, it threw my metabolism off so bad that it made me physically ill. Medication only works for some of the population out there, and unfortunately I've struggled with medication and its effects on my metabolism and my eating habits. One thing I can definitely agree with you on: I'm a Diet Coke fiend! When I was younger I used to drink regular soda, but now it almost makes me wretch! Diet is now the only soda I can drink. And it's like that when you change your eating habits. So many of the fatty foods I used to eat repel me now. Change is good, and it is possible. Great articles Colleen. They're very informative, and make me feel better about the vast confusion that is medication and its side-effects.
-- posted by shiloh » Goodness - weight gain and medications like others I have found that certain drug combinations have caused excessive weight gain. Although I found the article on approaches to this problem intresting it does not address my particular problem... I am a fairly active person I swim, walk,do shallow water fitness and work out in the local gym. I have tried to diet but I found no results I eat fairly good and have consulted a dietician. I am now eating one meal a day and exercising and still there is no results. before I was diagonsed I was anorexic for ten years so the weight gain has caused me considerable pain. I had finally broken the cycle of self abuse that anorexia holds on a person and now I am well over myset weight I have swung full circle and my doctor is not sympathic for he feels that should be grateful that am relatively stable. Still it is hard not to let this affect my self esteem. Anyone with advise can reach me at Kasbek@Hotmail.com or if it just to let me know that I am not the only one.thanks. -- posted by Goodness » Colleen_Sullivan - We are NOT ALONE with this issue! Hi there,I've always been particularly interested in the phenomonen of bipolar illness and weight gain because of the gross way it affected me personally. My first attempt at a personal web site was dedicated to that topic, and was later expanded to include Bipolar Illness in general. If you would like to read more about medications and weight gain, or the personal stories of bipolars, many who suffered from the effects of weight gain, I invite you to check out Bipolar World at http://bipolar.virtualave.net Thanks, -- posted by Colleen_Sullivan
