» eileenmin - He could try

Deb,

I don't see how Bush can control the media one way or the other. If they have it in for him, there isn't much he can do. Look what happened to Gingrich. Gingrich was press fodder - I remember one piece titled the "The Gingrich who stole Christmas." The guy couldn't win, and didn't.

But what Mrs. Clinton did to win in New York might be an idea for Bush. She simply bypassed the press. She didn't answer any questions, did only controlled interviews, or was given the questions to preview, went everywhere surrounded by secret service who didn't let reporters near, and simply gave speeches surrounded by admirers without having to answer tough questions.

Of course Bush can't bypass the press to the same extreme as Mrs. Clinton. But with his personality, he can woo some of them, ignore others, and take his opinions and thoughts to those more objective and less partisan. There is always Fox News and Bill O'Reilly who can no longer be ignored. Of course O'Reilly is a tough interviewer but at least he's fair. Brit Hume and Tim Russert are two others who come to mind.
