» biogardener - Glad to see it I am glad to see that someone other than John Hoh and I have written about Popl John Paul II. I did not think that I had anything worthwhile to say about him until I heard other people in Winnipeg sharing their experiences in meeting him. He was here in 1984 and passed very close to my house. I saw him in a light very different from other people, very human and annoyed. From that encounter I reasoned that the human side of the man may have had a lot to do with his appeal to people.Well, I ended up writing three articles on the man, including one which previews the next pope's work, the one who was just elected today. Here is the first of the three article, and the others are linked at the bottom. Feel free to link your article in the discussion. -- posted by biogardener » humorous_sage - John Paul John Paul. May his soul rest in peace. I wonder what changes will be made in Rome now that he is no longer the leader of his faith.Hank -- posted by humorous_sage » biogardener - Changes in Rome Well Henry, that is what my third article on John Paul II's Legacy is all about. Considering how the previous pope is responsible for almost all the appointments of current cardinals, chances were that the new pope would be someone whose beliefs would be closest to his own, which is exactly what happened. Listening to the expectations of Catholic theologians expressing their views on the subject, most of them also believe that there will be little change in the church during Ratzinger's reign.A few people, however, including myself, have expressed the hope that the man may find it in his heart to listen to his flock and be open to meet the needs to which the John Paul II paid no attention. I think you would find my article interesting. I would also hope, Henry, that you would write an article for John Hoh's event. At the moment, the articles are by John, Irene, and myself, and neither John nor I are even Roman Catholic, although we are members of the catholic church, i.e. the global or universal church. -- posted by biogardener » humorous_sage - Re: Changes in Rome In response to Changes in Rome posted by biogardener:Ah yes. It's interesting how three of us non-catholics have so much to say about their faith and their leaders. As for the new pope, I have often heard that great leaders often change dramatically once they have the masses to lead. That includes many USA presidents. -- posted by humorous_sage
