» TheCrofter - Cronic Lyme Disease...I know

Hi,

I am a fellow author at Suite 101 (when I can) and I've had LD for over 15 years and have only been given 3 weeks of antibiotics!!! My life is ruined...I have all the good stuff...Joint pain, muscle pain, can't sleep, short term memory loss, chronic fatigue, legs just give out after standing for 10 to 15 min. and the list just goes on and on. SS Disability. has turned me down, DRs at VA say..."You had 3 weeks of antibiotics, you've been cured!!!

If you think you have been bit by a tick...go to the DR and insist you get proper treatment...if they catch it early they are having good results. Believe me don't give up...you don't want to end up like me and many many more.

In New York they are trying to "get" a DR who gives more than the "recommended amount" of antibiotics...let's get real.

We Chronic Lyme suffers need help.

Anyone who would like to contact me can mailto:
cjchouinard@aol.com

Thank you for letting me blow off a little steam.

» LadyB - I know about Chronic Lyme too....

...but I'm completely recovered. I'm as surprised at your statement that you've had Lyme for 15 years and no one's ever given you more than 3 weeks of antibiotics as I am at Lori's statement that she's been ON antibiotics for what looks like three years and she's fine. Neither is the usual story, but of course, neither is mine.

I've had Lyme 8 different times after probably being undiagnosed for a number of years before my first positive test in 1988. I have never taken more than 4 weeks of Doxycycline for any of the cases, but that never did anything but kill off spirochetes. I had to find out how to heal my damaged joints and nerves myself. And I did.

I have four articles up on Lyme:
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/weed... is on prevention -- although someone stated that taking prevention tips from someone who's had it eight times seems a trifle silly. The prevention tips work, but only if you USE them. Being a professional gardener and spending every waking hour out in the gardens just raised my risk factor higher than constantly spraying myself down with Rose Geranium spray could handle.

My second article is my take on the disease itself http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/weed...

And the next one is about my seventh round of it back in '99 http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/weed...

My latest article on Lyme talks of this last (oy, it should be my LAST) case and how, although it pushed me to lay down that thirty-year career as a professional gardener, I am completely recovered, with more energy than I've had in a LONG time, no pain, no nerve problems, I'm taking bellydancing lessons and it paved the way for my doing what I came here to do, which is to open my own Herbal Healing and Education Center.
http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/631/...

I believe (and I'm walking proof) that it CAN be done!

Welcome aboard, Lori....hot topic you've got here!
