Hello...I am new here. I seen your message and was like omg, thats sorta similar to whats going on with me. I have had a brochial type problem since end of Feb. I've had a bad cough that drives me nuts, it makes it hard to get anything done. And I've been wondering could it have anything to do with lupus? I don't have the fungus you describe. But I am allergic to the sun, even with sunscreen I break out in a rash, its just way more severe without the sunscreen. When I was 15 or so I was diagnosed with lupus but was so young didnt understand it and from what I remember my dermatologist telling me about it, I was scared and didn't want to believe it. He sent me to a specialist (bone and joint). At the time I remember thinking ok what does this have to do with my sun allergy. I just didn't understand. We were poor and didnt have good insurance and my mother was an alcoholic so with all that needless to say she only took me to the dr. a couple of times. I've had a hard life and I guess tried not to think about what I was told by the dr. way back then, but its always been in the back of my mind. (I'm sorry this is so long, this is my first time talking about this to anyone, I hope someone can relate, this is hard for me) The sun has been an enemy to me over the years, It depressed me when I was young but the older I've gotten I've learned to deal with it. I recently started looking up lupus information on the web because I'm in so much pain and I've been having so many problems. I remember one of the things my doctor told me at 15yrs. old was that the older I got the worse my condition would get... well I'm assuming this is true because I've put off seeing a doctor all these years and dealing with things that didn't seem normal, but they would pass. But now I have an appt. with a Lupus and Athritis specialist next Tuesday, its actually the doctor I seen a couple of times when I was 15, although I'm sure he won't remember me,lol. I'm 32 now. Well I feel like I could go on and on because I've held this in for so long, but I've written so much already I will go for now. Thanks to all for listening. I hope to make some new friends here that know where I'm coming from, because I feel like nobody does thats one reason I've held it in and not talked about it. People thing its wierd to be allergic to the sun, I've been treated like I'm contagious when I break out in my rash, its crazy. Well I will go for now... take care all. Shawn

» susiecb - itchy hands and feet

Began today with horrible itchy palms of hands, and bottom of feet. Been on Wellbretrim (sp?)
for a month now. Plan on calling the Dr. tomorrow. If you have had this problem. How long after you stop taking the medicine does the itching go away?

I am not familiar with Welbutrin, but you have to look into the side effects and maybe tell your doctor.

I was on Effexor and after about 2 weeks the side effects went away.

Sorry that I couldn't be of help.

Hi! Every now and then I experience itching. Today is one of those days. My arms and legs are the most itchy but also my neck and face. It also keeps me up at night. I don't know if I have Lupus. I have been diagnosed with undifferentiated connective tissue disease. What's weird about my itching is I am not on any meds and there is no rash to be seen. I also have some pain and numbness in my arms as well. Can anyone relate?

I've never dealt with itchy hands and feet, but I lost a loved one in 1997 to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma because we didn't push for an x-ray of her lungs sooner. She had a persistent cough (5 months) and her doctor gave her every allergy and asthma related medicine without ever taking a picture of her lungs. If we had taken control of her treatment and pushed for an x-ray or blood test sooner, she might have survived the disease. I'm not posting this to scare you, but to make sure you do not totally rely on your doctor for ALL of the answers. If you haven't already, please get some blood tests and an x-ray to make sure there isn't another underlying problem. The only way your lungs let you know there's something wrong is by forcing a cough. In our case, we discovered a tumor the size of my fist in her right lung. At that point, it was too late.

God Bless and good luck!

Hello Lucy and DV, nice to see you both stop in here.
Lucy I have both Lupus and Sjogrens...and if I go in the sun or not I have days with my skin itching. Today is one of those days. My neck , chest and my arms from the mid forearm to my hands, and legs knees to my ankles. No hives, no new meds. Some times I have this and somtimes I don't. Nothing seems to help and it goes away.

DV so sorry to hear about your loss...never easy!

Welcome to our site, hope you return and share your thoughts!

Thanks Micklady. That was helpful. It's so weird how the symptoms just come and go as they please and it isn't dependent on what I do. For two days I was real itchy and I hadn't been in the sun. On Wed. I was real fatiqued even though it seemed I got a good night sleep on Tues. Yesterday I wasn't fatiqued even though I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before. Also yesterday my leg muscles were so sore and knees hurt so bad I had a hard time walking as though I had run a marathon but didn't do anything extra. Today I am fine. When I feel better I question whether I really felt bad in the first place.

Micklady, thank you for the kind words. I felt compelled to share my thoughts when I read Carolt's posting. I hope she's found some relief/answers.

Quick question about the itching you experience. At times, I've had itching so severe on my forearm and upper shoulder that I want to scratch a hole in my skin, but what's puzzling is that I do not have a rash or any signs of skin irritation. Any thoughts on that? It comes and goes without any real pattern - exposure to sun, time of year, etc. I've mentioned it to my doctor and my blood tests come back fine during my yearly physicals, so I'm really stumped.

Anyway, thanks for the nice welcome and if you have any knowledge to pass on I would certainly appreciate it. Take care and have a great day!
