» mimi4fun - itchy feet and hands

The last two years I have been suffering with this as well. The best remedy I have is to take a long acting antihistamine (I use the no name one from the drug store that doesn't cause sleepiness). You can also soak your feet in warm water with baking soda until the itchiness subsides, pat dry and apply moisturizers. I am beginning to suspect the salt used on the roadways as the culprits.

About 2 weeks ago i also had some sort of reaction and started to itch, and within the next 2 hours became covered with hives head to toe. i wanted to scratch my skin off. I had been hospitalized previously years ago for the same type of bad reaction to an antibiotic.(Augmentin) I was also put on Predinisone for some time afterwards to knock out my immune system and get rid of allergic causing substance in my system. However i refuse to ever take that med again- it made me literally crazy.
This time i was taking a totally seperate antibiotic and forwent the hospital visit. I took Benedryl and eventually the hives went away. However it has been 2 weeks and i have the most awful itching of the hands and feet. I am also taking Zoloft. Usually i can take Claratin or Benedryl (at night) and it helps. But i sympathize. I am up at night sometimes scratching my feet so badly that i wake up with bruises on the tops of them!
i am considering an allergist appt. My suspiscion is that i am allergic to Sulfa based drugs but it hasnt been proven yet. Regardless the post itching that still remains is unbearable.

Hello Jillbeth, nice to see you stop in here! Don't you want to just scratch your feet off some nights? Good luck I agree it looks like sulfa allergy to me! Take care!

Regarding comments you made on February 5 about itching hands and feet. Did it stop the itching when you stoppeWelbutrinin? I'm having the same problems and I started takinWelbutrinin almost 1 month ago.

I stopped taking Welbutrin about 3 or 4 days ago and haven't had much relief yet. I break out in small itchy hives at random all over. My stomach, back, arms, etc. It's making me crazy. I hope to have some relief soon. I was also taking Lipitor for cholesterol and stopped taking that last night in hopes it might help. Please let me know if anyone discovers some miracle!

This is the second time I am looking up swollen and itchy palms and soles of feet. I have also have had a brochial type asthma six times in the past six months. I am now on singular and allegra D, Advair and Albuterol. I have had the same cough for so long. My doctor is telling me I have allergies, but the cough doesn't go away. The first time I thought I had a fungus on my hands and feet so I used Lotromin. Now I know that is not it. I just used a gel used for itching of poison ivy and shumac (Rulegel) that helped stop the itching. I also have alot of joint pain, I always thought that was just from being overweight. I especially have it in the morning when I wake up. I have to take one step at a time to go down the steps. If anyone has advice on what I should do please post. Thanks.

Couldn't help but reply.......

Lipitor!! I believe that was the start of my Lupus problems! Every doctor I have spoken to since than says it definitely is not a benign drug. A week after I started taking Lipitor my muscles began to ache.....turned into skin rash....itchy everything.....malar butterfly rash. A biopsy diagnosed the Discoid Lupus. Blood test showed elevated CK levels. Everything was fine until the Lipitor. My PCP says maybe it pushed me over the "edge". That and Menopause.

So watch out for the Lipitor. It causes fatique, sore joints, rashes........sound familiar? I contacted "MedWatch", a government program that collects reports on drugs.
