» Kay61 - itchy feet and hands

Hi All,
I too have been experiencing itchy feet & hands for almost 3 years. the only thing that helps is to take Zytec at night. Otherwise it is so severe it could drive me crazy. IT's so awful. Thank goodness something helps but I would like to know what it is from & get off the Zyrtec; it makes me tired. I've had allergy testing but it came up negetive to foods although I have several others like dust, pets, trees, molds etc. A dermatologist told me to do an elimination diet to avoid all grains/flours for at least 3 weeks & see if I have any relief. This is very hard & I've tried but can not get through more than 2 weeks.
Overall, I do have itchy skin in other areas with some eczema but the hands & feet are an entirely different kind of itch without any rash.
would like to hear from others who might have a clue about this.
Kay

I too have had a couple of these episodes. A friend mentioned something about too much protein in the body? manifesting itself through nerve endings. Well I just finished off an eggsalad sandwich and experienced a mini episode. Granted this may be only me. Any who - I decided to research the web for any medical articles related to the possibility. I found this website which seems to be in the neighborhood. Read on - hope it's an avenue for future information regarding these crazy itch thingy. http://www.njc.org/pdf/jan_aria.pdf

Hello everyone! I relate to Kay61. The itchiness all started with the hands and feet and then its spreads everywhere! It drives me nuts this happened 8 months ago as well. I went to the hospital the doctor said to avoid hot showers and baths it makes it worse. It feels good with the heat and try to wear loose clothes. I have to see a Allergy specialist on Monday. Lets see what they say. I get rashes everywhere. I feel like a dog sometimes cause I can't stop itching!! how often does this happened to you??

Hi Kay~

The last year I have suffered beyond words with not only itchy hands and feet but small blisters that would burst and then my hands and feet would crack and bleed! It has been a nightmare. My husband would have to wash my hair and do the dishes and bath the kids and everything else that required use of my hands (like any and all things related to kids). Then one day my friend in Atlanta called to tell me that she thought my problem was a yeast infection (she had seen it because we had visited her) because her neighbor had the exact same problem and was going nuts as well. So the two of them hit the health food stores and were determined to find some kind of answer because the doctors she had seen kept giving her drugs that didn't work long term. They were told by more than one person at more than one store that it was a yeast infection gone out of control. They advised her to take any kind of "pro-biotic" and eat lots of yogurt with live cultures. Believe it or not this has completely healed her and me. I eat yogurt every couple of days and I try to do a run of pro-biotics from time to time. I am amazed that it was so simple and natural.
Give it a run and see if it works for you.

Hope it helps~

Hello Lisa, where and why did you have the kenolog shot? Most of the time this is used for a joint problem. Such as bursitis in the knee should , elbow, etc? Where was your's and what side effects did you have?

Lisa,
You're right, I'm the one that mentioned it. I had mine for allergies, both nasal/lung type and skin allergies. I didn't notice any major side effects (although I was only 19 when I had it, so I don't think I was paying attention) but I didn't have to take any pills or use any creams for my allergies for a full year . . . what a relief! My mother has had it for joint pain as well. The only major side effect that I know of is that after a certain amount of build up in your body, it can cause fertility problems, so most doctors won't perscribe it more that once every 3 to 5 years in women of childbearing age with out a waiver or consent form from the patient. What kind of side effects did you have?

» kay03 - itchy hands and feet

I thought I would post some quick fixes I have found and heard of. Use the little tiny tube of ointment for athletes foot, it starts with a "T". Wal Mart has the no-name brand. I put it on my hands and feet and within a few minutes it stops itching. I have also used Absorbine JR. That helps and sometimes ice. The yeast infection post sounds like that is probably the case because the athletes foot medication is for fungus. I am getting it a lot at night right now and it seems to be worse in the winter for some reason.
