I too had itchy hands and feet almost to the point of screaming. What I finally found out was that I am allergic to sodium laureth sulfate in a new shampoo I had tried. Every time I washed my hair in the shower I would still have the residue on my hands and around my feet when I got out of the shower. When I quit using a shampoo that had that ingredient my itchy hands and feet went away. Good luck I hope this helps someone. smile

I am a computer info junky, I research every angle of a problem until I find something that makes sense. lol Some of the symptoms posted seem to be something called "aquagenic pruritus" an itchy condition made worse by contact with water or soon after shower or bath. If this is the case you can try capsaicin cream .025% (kind of expensive) but if it works you can have your doctor write a prescription for the pharmacist to make up 30 mg of capsaicin to 4 oz. vanishing cream. Just tryin to help. Let me know if this works for anyone. smile

Some of my research has suggested the itching may be allergy related from foods such as cow's milk, orange juice, or soy products, also chlorine, whether in a pool, bath, or in your drinking water.
I know you said no creams have worked and you are probably getting frustrated trying different kinds but one that is working for some people is called Theraplex, costs around $11 for 8 oz. good luck smile

» miente - itchy palms and soles

This is a desperate response to all mothers who have children with itchy palms and soles right after a bath. My eight year old daughter is suffering the same symptoms. I tried to eliminate all soap that can cause allergies - but nothing helps. Can anyone please help - no creams afterwards even help - any suggestions?

Hi, I too am experiencing terrible itching of my hands and feet. I haven't been to the Dr. because it seems as tho there is no apparant cause for this that they can find. I am kind of prone to think it is nerves(???????????????) for lack of a better solution. Sorry you are having this problem, but glad to know I am not alone also. Let me know if you find a real cause for this dilemna. Yvonne Robbins smile

Are itchy hands and feet symptoms of lupus?

For the moms out there . . . I'm not a mom (yetsmile) but my sister had similar problems with her children and actually found a rather odd solution, but it's a thought. Have you tested any of them for a yeast infection? I know it sounds odd, and although it is rare, even little girls can get them. And don't worry, it's still natural, not because anything is being "done" to them. My sister thought of this becuase she (and I for that matter) have to be really careful with soap products or we get doozers of infections. Since she discovered the problem, she doesn't give the girls bubble baths with real bubbles . . . if there is a liquid soap that work for them then she'll use that. The bubbles don't last as long, but it's still fun! Also try using some of the higher end bath soaps or switching to a different laundry detergent. Amway (or Quixtar if your up to date) has a great product, SA-8, that has no fillers and disolves on contact with water, even when it's cold. They even have a baby formula, which is even gentler.
As for anyone else, I once had a kenalog shot for my itchy hands and that at least tamed the situation to a point where I can maintain comfort with good moisturization. The only problem with Kenalog shots is that you can't get them every year, and if your of childbearing age you are supposed to wait 5 years between each shot.
As far as whether or not they are a symptom of lupus, I don't think you'll see that listed on any of the syptoms lists, but then again, that doesn't really mean anything. I think a lot of lupies suffer with the itchies, but it's different for every case as to whether or not it is a symptom, or a side effect of the meds the are on.
