» tweetschick - itchy

my feet have been itchy for 2 days and my palms and kinda between my fingers. someone suggested in an email that another part had been itchy. can anybody tell me what part she meant. she wrote you should know what i mean. i wondering if she meant what i felt. can you tell me what this is from? i have been seeing a pediatrist for plantar fasciitis and wonder if one has anything to do with the other. for the last 2 days i can bear;y walk. even percocet hasn't helped.
do you think one has to do with the other. i have no red rash or problem with blood flow. i had a sonagram to check blood flow last week and all that was fine. then this itchy this week.
help!

Hi tweetschick! You mentioned that you're seeing a podiatrist and you're getting treated for plantar fascitis. Perhaps the itchy feeling is because you're healing? That sometimes happens when a wound or rash is healing. The "itchiness" is actually your body regrowing healthy tissue.

Maybe warm soaks would help? Your podiatrist might know if this is a healthy itch or something else. Why not give him/her a call?

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

he was away until Thursday, I had an appointment but my husbands car had to go into the shop and between bringing him to pick his car up and the hours of my sons preschool it all didn't work.
Had to reschedule for Tuesday. Couldn't be the healing thing though because my feet were so bad with the plantar fascitiis that it was the worse it has ever been. The itchy palms have subsided but the feet are still itchy. Not as itchy as they were but still itchy. I couldn't sleep it has been driving me nuts. It is a little better but still itchy.

I'm so sorry about your delay, tweetschick! Maybe the itchy palms feeling better is a sign that your feet will feel better soon, too.

Have you tried warm or cool soaks for your feet? When my feet get itchy or achy from Raynauds, warm water does wonders for me.

Got my fingers crossed for you! Let us know how it goes.

Doris, you're not "complaining", you're "sharing" and it's okay because I'm a lupie too, and nobody "gets it" like one of us!

That's why I'm here, to share and help and understand and to listen to you vent any ol' time that you need to! That's why we're all here, I think!

How are you feeling today? Is the itch any better? Don't hesitate to let your doc know if it isn't. You could call him and say something witty like, "Well, your 'psychic vibration' treatment didn't work. Maybe we could try something else?" That might get his motor started to get you some relief!

Got my fingers crossed again! Take Care of You!

I can't believe there's people out there experiencing the same thing my 5 y.o. daughter is. She has seen a dermatologist who was unsure and then went to "Grand Rounds" and saw ~20-30 dermatologists who were also unsure. Both her palms and soles of feet itch, but mainly the palms. Also, the itching drastically worsens when they get wet and the appearance of her skin is normal. You can only imagine the nightmares we go through everytime she takes a bath or shower! She has tried numerous things...hand cream, .2% hydrocortozone cream, Gold Bond Medicated Powder, Elidel (immunosupressant cream), Zyrtec (10mg; she's also taking this for seasonal allergies, which she was on when all the itching started this last Spring), and, currently, Prudoxin (antihistamine cream, similar to Zyrtec). The Prudoxin is helping during the day some, but the minute her hands get wet, she becomes frantic, trying to get relief from the itching.
I'm wondering if the condition is neurological in nature. Have you heard of Neurofibromatosis? This condition involves having cafe au lait birthmarks (which she has) and severe itching. However, the information given on this condition also includes very serious global issues involving speech, visual impairment, digestive problems, seizures, etc., none of which my daughter has. I'm not sure if this condition is progressive (I hope to God it's not, if this is what she has). I emailed the Foundation and they just indicated I should contact a geneticist to get an answer.

» LizzieACat - Itchy palms

I have had itchy, dry palms for over 4 years. I scratch so hard and long, even using the edge of a table or ink pen or whatever is handy to ease the itching. Sometimes I get blisters from all the rubbing and scratching. Or I get cuts from just tearing at the skin. My hands itch the most upon waking up in the morning.

The dermatologist gave me steroid shots to stop the itching, but I can't have those anymore now that I was diagnosed with Diabetes last year.

My palms are beginning to thicken from all the scratching and rubbing.

I have tried Zyrtec, Benadryl, Elydil, Ultra-vate Cream. I use aquaphillic cream from Sam's Club to keep my hands hydrated. I don't use fragranceed laundry soap. I wash my body with Cetaphyll. I don't wash dishes or use rubber gloves. I have tried the cotton gloves with Vaseline or cream or lanolin for an overnight treatment.

I have no idea what the next step should be.

Help! My hands are making me crazy!

I'm so glad I found this site! I too have been experiencing itchy hands and feet the last 2-3 days, and it's worse today. In fact, my neck is also itchy today, and it's driving me nuts. I hate that I'm leaving some pretty red scratch marks on my neck but I have to scratch. It seems the itching on the bottoms of my feet is worse today.
I too am curious about what other part of the body was itchy. Please do share what was meant by that. Thank you!

» NetteO - Re: itchy hands and feet

Hi I also am having problems with my palms and the soles of my feet itching. This started about a week and a half ago, and was all over my body except my face, scalp and genitals. I went to one doctor who told me it was Scabies, which it WAS NOT! No one else in my home had this, and if it had been Scabies they would have! I went to another doctor who told me I had had an allergic reaction, but we haven't figured out to what! He gave me a hydrocortisone shot, and a scrip for Hydroxyzine to be used at night. I scratch so bad I make myself bleed, and can't sleep! This rash was itsy bitsy bumps, but is gone now over the majority of my body. My only problem now is that I still itch like CRAZY in my palms and on the soles of my feet. I tried popping one of these bumps on my hand tonight, and it oozed a clear fluid, and then just became a spot of blood. What in the world is this? And what can I do? This itching is driving me nuts! One thing I tried when I had the itching all over was soaking in a tub of slightly warm water with Aveeno, then patting myself dry, and applying a 2% Allergy cream. This especially helped when done about 20 minutes before bedtime. Although I still woke during the night itching, it did help to relieve it temporarily so I could atleast fall asleep. Also,I found that hot water, either in the bath or shower really made the itching unbearable! If anyone finds something that works REALLY good to get rid of this problem PLEASE, PLEASE post it or e-mail me at JNette71965@aol.com. Meanwhile, good luck to all of you!
