Yeah! I am not alone! I have had this problem only two days now but I am going crazy. I can't figure out the cause, nothing new eating wise or hygienic either. I would love to hear is anyone has found other sources with info about this. Mine started in my palms and feet and then goes to my chest, legs and bounces around. I have taken Benadryl and I don't know if that really helps or just finally allows me to sleep so I don't notice the itching for a little while. So frustrating, its nice to know I am not alone.

I also have dermatographhia. It started with itchy hands and feet and now everytime i scratch elsewhere on my body I get instant welts and burning and itching. After 15 minutes it usually subsides and disappears. I have just begun menopause and am 52 years old, I think maybe that could be a reason. I was wondering if the person writing about it is also menopausal.

Hi
I just found this website and I am so glad to have found others dealing with this itchy business. The only thing I can say is about a month ago I broke out with a very severe very itchy oozing rash. It healed after taking strong steroids for a few weeks and now all of a sudden for about 3 days now I am itching like crazy again on my hands and feet and also sometimes in other areas but not as severe. What the heck is going on? Allegra helps and tonight I was very itchy for about 20 minutes on my sole of my foot and then it stopped but I feel a little itchy on my arm. On Sat. I broke out in hives.I was never a very allergic person and feel maybe something else is going on in my body. Glad we have this place to vent! If anyone has any new ideas please let us know.

In response to itchy hand and feet. I have a 10 year old daughter that woke up a month ago with these symptoms of itchy hands and feet, and has been wakeing up since with this problem. I took her to the pediatrician and they just said this is one of thos medical misterys. I did some research on the computor and all I keep comming up with is LUPUS, which freigtens me. She is very healthy overall and has never had any problems. I have set up a appoitment with a dermotoligist to see if they can help. The only thing that seem to help is cold water and Eurecin cream. NOw that you mention it, she has been going through a lot of stress in school. Any sugestions, please reply.

» GCBEC - My dr wont say for sure?

Since 1997 I have been suffering , first couldnt get pregnant, then had daughter 27 weeks. Had 4 Pulmonary embolism, extreme anemia, enlarged liver , plurisy, extreme fatigue dizziness, moth sores sensitive to sun, painful joints, rash on face... on and on. well, my hemotologist wont give me a diagnosis, says ana is not positive all other signs but that and if he gives me diagnosis of lupus no one will look any further, and will blame all my symptoms on "lupus" . I have had iga glcoprotein somthing come back positive 3 times antiphosolipid syndrome, then came back neg, so they said oh dont have that. I am at a loss, how can I get someone to listen without feeling like I am crazy? and could it still be Lupus with a neg ana? I have had every symptome, found this site tonight trying to find out about me itchy hands and feet, ahat a coincadence? Thanks Cindy

» smoothteeth - Re: I have an answer

I had written about my daughter (10 yrs old) that has been suffering from itchy hands and feet for a month now, and I finally took her to a skin specialist. He diagnosed her with Acute Uticaria, he gave her a hand lotion to use and a medecine called ATARAX once before night time. So far so good. she has not complained since. He did mention that several things could cause this, some of them were stress, an antibiotic that she might have had a bad reaction to and laundry detergants, he recommended for me to use DOVE for her baths and PUREX for laundry. No vitamin intake for the next six months and no perfumes and or lotions that may contain perfumes. I hope this information will help someone.

Thanks
Sandra

Hi there

I hope you still use this site. I checked this site a few months back however did not have a solution. I was then a reflexology student. I am now an aromatherapy student. I had a client with the same problem, but she only had itchy soles, right in the middle of the session. I have given her the suggestion to rub Castor Oil whenever it iches. My teacher says it could be your kidneys or liver needs to be checked out but i am not one hundred percent sure. Try castor oil and see if it works for you, at least you will wind up with softer feet if nothing else.

Can you please let me know if it works? thanks
Rozie

ngalluccio I know exactly what your going through. You described my situation to the "T". I've been suffering from this for about 6 months now. I'm 6'2" 220 fit male. One morning after a shower my right foot in my arch started itching a bit but I didn't think anything of it. I went on my way but as I was driving my foot just kept getting worse and worse till I ended up pulling over to the side of the road kicking off my shoe and scratching like crazy. After about 30 minutes it subsided. A day or two later I felt in coming back again in both feet. I literally stopped me in my tracks and I ended up scratching both feet on the coach for close to 1hr. Again, no signs of breaking out or anything on the skin. With each episode seem to get a little worse and worse spreading into the palms of my hands. I finally went to the doctor thinking I might be getting diabetes. I had blood work done and everything was fine except my cholesterol (255). He gave me Zyrtec and within 30 minutes all the itching went completely away. I still have the problem and if I don't take a Zyrtec everyday I'll be itching like crazy. Sometimes I can skip a day. I'm still confused on what's going on and my wife thinks I'm crazy but something weird going on here. The itching drives me crazy! For now I highly recommend Zyrtec for relief. I swear by it! Good Luck!!!

» caroline0223 - itching hands and feet - the saga continues

I can't stand it anymore. I have these bouts of itching hands and feet and there seems to be no one in this world that can tell me why or how to resolve it. I have my own theories. I think it's either liver or kidney related. I dehydrate easy and if I don't drink enough water during the course of the day my urine becomes dark and infrequent. Itching seems to be more prominant when this occurs. Also, I recently developed gall stones...and my common bile duct became clogged. This caused my liver to give off enzymes (and my pancreas to become inflamed, and my diaphragm to become inflamed, and the lining of my lung to become irritated (joy of joys)). Anyway, I encountered a severe bout of itching hands and feet at that times as well. So my theory is that when you get something in your blood (bacteria, enzymes, etc.), it manifests itself with itching hands and feet. Now I want to know if this would make sense to anyone else who suffers from this condition...did you have dark urine or any other such underlying facter. I am just desparately seeking an answer...so please bear with me. Thank you!!

» severedcharlotte - Re: Re: itchy hands and feet causing loss of sleep!!!

hmm.. well yeah this sucks, for maybe like a month or two ive been really itchy on my hands and around my wrists, sometimes on my inner thigh. my feet arent really itchy though. For awhile id lay in the tub for a long time. But right after i got out, id be so itchy. so then i took another bath the next day, and after i got out i tried anti itch cream. it still didnt work... i didnt know what to do i couldnt sleep at all!
they are like little red bumps and i scratch them open and they bleed alot. and then my hands and wrists get all white and scaley or something and look like they want to peel. I kept thinking it was scabies. But i wasnt too sure about that because no one else in my house hold got it. but, i noticed then that i had a new friend. And he had the same thing for awhile. Then, i noticed i started getting just like him. i thought hey its just dry skin. Then, again, i realized that his one friend had the same thing. I asked him about it and he said it was eczema. But, i dont really think it is. So, after awhile i went to emergency room because we dont have any insurance. And, the doctor came to the conclusion that he has no idea what it is and they gave me omoxicilyn and allegra because they think it might be my detergent or something. The allegra really works though. I can actually fall asleep but i still wake up itchy around 4.But, it helps me get through my day. If you can help me figure out what this is... PLEASE REPLY IM DESPERATE
