Itchy hands and feet?

I really can't stand this insane itch problem. There has got to be something out there to stop this. As I sit here I am soaking my feet in oatmeal/colloidal. This helps me deal with the itch but doesn't make it go away. I take a ice cube when I can't stand it and am starting to use sharp instruments to scratch with and I rub it on the spots that are itching the most. That helps stabalize the emotions that I go through and think of belt sanders and chop saws! This really is horrible and very lonely. Cause it's only you at 3and4 in the morning sitting up in agony with no one to cry to or scream at or anything. TV sucks at that time of the morning...Sure I'll have a little cheese with my "Whine" ;o)But could you make the wine glass unbreakable cause I might use it to scratch this darn insane itch! lol -- posted by outtamymind » HBKris - A thought ?? When I walk on the hard rubberized mat in bathroom, the contact points of the feet become very itchy. My 'specialist' allergist said too that this severe itching is common, and often disappears as mysteriously as it appears. The prescription anti-histamines DO help the itch, but don't clear the "dermatographia" welts and red marks that appear for about 15 minutes wherever clothes or objects rub my skin. At this point, he has prescribed THREE 180 MG ALLEGRA daily....to which my insurance balks (at $8 per pill, understandable). So, I have been getting by on 'samples' bagged by the Dr. Do any of you highlight or color your hair? I have for years (premature grey), but recently the salon has switched products. Please let me know if anyone with this itch does the hair thing.... am thinking there is a connection between when the product switched, and when this started. Its been about 6 weeks sense I did it last. I have been using the same stuff for years. Actually a friend of mine said that he had an uncontrollable itch (mostly on his legs) The doctor told him that it was due to water retention. He suggesteded taking a water pill. But may I ask why this discussion is under "LUPUS" section of the web site? Does itchy palm have anything to do with Lupus? Fellow scratchers...Just found this site, after having problem with itchy soles of feet for last 6 months+ off and on. I get intense itching of soles of feet, nowhere else, often at night - I keep a square piece of plastic by my bed so I can give my feet a good scraping which helps for a short time. Also the soles of my feet sometimes feel swollen, tender and hot. What's going on? One thing that seems to help is calomine and witch hazel cream which I rub over the soles of my feet. I don't smoke or know of any allergic reactions to anything. In the last year I have woke up in the middle of the night itching my palms and bottom of my feet. My stomach was aching and I felt like passing out. I started to itch near my crotch area and that was about it. I drank water and the itching subsided. The itching only lasted 45 min. i am not sure of what it could be caused from and it doesn't seem that anyone can pin point this. I noticed that this didn't start happening until i got divorced and experienced a lot of stress. I also picked up Eczema from this whole ordeal. Drinking water helped the itching. hopefully this will help someone and if anyone has experienced the same thing please reply.Thanks, -- posted by clayandwater » judy1940 - Re: itchy hands and feet I've had itchy palms since moving to Florida from New York five weeks ago and thought maybe I had some unknown allergy. However, after seeing this note I went to check my shampoo which was a going-away present from my hairdresser. I began using it five weeks ago. Sure enough, the second ingredient in the shampoo is sodium laureth sulfate. I will being using my old shampoo and to see what happens. Too bad. My gift shampoo has the most glorious fragrance.-- posted by judy1940 » GinnyKay - What a Pain Even as I am typing, my hand has this itchy, painful feeling. I don't get it very often...Yet. I am 17yrs old and this feeling has been in my left hand and left foot for about 5 or 6 months. It seems to be getting worst. First it was just my heels and palms. They would feel like they needed to be scratched but oddly painful. I found that rubbing it on carpet or something makes it go away for a little while. Now I get it in between my fingers and toes. If I try to scratch it, it just makes it hurt, I have to rub it on something. But it is red and splotchy. It hasn't bled, produced sores or anything and I don't have sleeping problems, I just get it during the day. It is really frustrating because I want to know what it is just like everyone else. I am 33 and have only just started experiencing this problem - only twice. Very strange. Don't have itchy crotch, or eczema but do have allergies to hay fever and I'm thinking maybe dust mites. I have itchy hands again !!! I don't know why this happens. I suspect an allergic reaction. before it only happened for a couple of hours a time. but now its been 2 days. I'm going nuts. it comes and goes this last 2 days without warning. I've been watching what i eat because i'm an allergy person. and this last yr i've become allergic to afew more things. so now i'm trying to pin point what it could be.
