Hives

» mastiffs2005 - I hate them! I know some of you lupies have trouble with hives, and I've been battling them for 2 weeks now... I've used every remedy I know of, and it helps temporarily, but they come right back. Karyn, do you know what causes the hives? Is it something I'm doing? I just can't figure it out, and I've gone through almost 2 whole bottles of benadryl, half an aloe plant, a bottle of witch hazel, and I've taken so many cool showers that I'm the cleanest person on the planet right now LOL Any ideas? Thanks! -- posted by mastiffs2005 » scottishgirl - Hivey-Ivy, I can't think of many things more innocuous-sounding, and more aggravating than constant itching! You poor thing!I think you need to find the source of the hives, and try to eliminate/reduce your exposure to it, rather than constantly trying to treat them. It could be any number of things, including food allergies, chemical sensitivity, animal dander or even stressors. If you have trouble pinpointing the source, you may have to see an allergist to find if you're reacting to something in your environment. Meanwhile, keep that Benadryl handy! (I hear the liquid is nice over vanilla ice cream!) )))Itch-Free Hugs((( -- posted by scottishgirl » mastiffs2005 - Thanks! I was afraid you were going to suggest allergy testing LOL and yep, I think it's time, as I can't seem to pinpoint it myself... usually, I've thought mine were psychosematic, but I am feeling really great, no stress... so, I'm thinking it might be an actual allergy this time *sigh* LOLThanks for the advice, but I think I'll skip on pouring benadryl over my ice cream... and did you say "vanilla"??? there's a flavor of ice cream other than chocolate/chocolate/chocolate/fudge??? hmmm very interesting *smile* Love & Hugs, -- posted by mastiffs2005 » paigey - I have found relief by using cold compresses, soaked in Lavendar I have found relief by using cold compresses, soaked in Lavendar oil. I know it sounds "hippie" :-) And I must admit I was a little doubtful at first but I have a rash over my entire face, neck and back and this has taken out the redness and the itching. Good Luck.
